is there any hotel or apartments have a private roof terrace or large balcony with sunloungers to sunbathe in private.
Dont want a private let as there isnt usually a bar or restaurant on the resort. Also like the option of having sunloungers around the pool and having a snack in pool bar.Also want to be able to walk to the shops and other restaurants

The Forte do Vale hotel has a pool on the roof. Might be worth a look. There are few places nearby and you would be 15 minutes or so walk from the middle of things. So far as I recall from a survey I did before it opened, many of the rooms do have fairly large balconies but they don't face south.
Forte do Vale is about 1/2 mile from the nearest beach.
The ornate tower of this building dominates parts of the town skyline, from varios viewpoints. The wrought iron structure of a crown, which holds the bell, is the symbol of the city of Albufeira.. Located at Rua Bernaddino de Sousa, the building was at one time used as a jail.
This restaurant we went to three times first I had the sunday lunch Lamb was my choice.
Some off my friends had the cod but my favourite was the home made steak pie.
I have not eaten a Knickbocker glory for years when I saw this on the menu I could not resist.
The deserts are very good from the home made apple pie banana split strawbery melba.
In all this is a great family run restaurant well worth a visit and the prices very resonable. Roast lamb and Yorkshire pudding but my favourite was the home made steak pie with skeak chips peas and gravy.
I have been to this region twice. Once on my own in November 2001 and again in the summer 2002 with a friend. There is plenty to do from sailing trips to isolated beachs along the coast to tours in jeeps into the hills! It is quiet in the winter months but warm enuf to sit and read on empty beaches. In the summer months its very much a family place or somewhere to go as a couple not a place for a 'lads' holiday.
