Bus to Lissabon
Hi,
is it possible to go from Olhos de Agua (or Albufeira) to Lissabon with bus on 1 day? I stay in Olhos de Agua from 7-12.04.2008. Can I find a time-table in internet?

Hello,
To get to Lisbon by bus you have to get a bus from Olhos d'Água to Albufeira (bus station near Aquaplaza apartments and near the new market of Olhos de Água, I think the first one still exists but I'm not sure).
In Albufeira you can get a bus from rede expressos (www.rede-expressos.pt or www.eva-bus.com, the website is the same). The bus station is in the northern part of the city not that far away from the city hall and fire dept.
Other option is to catch a train. Trains departure from the town of Ferreiras about 5Kms north of Albufeira. There is a bus doing this connection but I know nothing about it.
Olhos d'Água is a former village town nowadays much more focused in tourism. The beach is small but has all the basic supports and it's quite protected from winds. In the beach there are some fresh water springs that bring the name to the town (Eastern part of the beach in the rocks). If you cross the rocks you can find the beach of Barranco de Belharucas that has a nice sand area.
The town has everything that you might need. I like the restaurant Laranjal (in the exit towards Vilamoura), Licorne (an indian restaurant with a nice vibe) and caixote due to the views of the sea. I heard good stuff of Tiburtino's. At night people used to go to a place called Cabanas bar in a dead end street next to Alisuper. Don't know how it is today.
The closest towns are Albufeira and Vilamoura (a place more fancy). If you're up to historical places the closest are Silves and some roman ruins in Vilamoura and Faro.

My website was mentioned in an earlier reply.
There are frequent buses from Albufeira to Lisbon and the journey takes about 3 hours. For example there is a bus at 0800 arriving at 1100. There is a bus back at 1830 arriving in Albufeira at 2120.
The Lisbon bus terminal at Sete Rios is about 4km from the city centre and you will need the metro to complete your journey.
The rede-expressos website has all the times as has been mentioned. Tickets should be bought in advance if possible.
Olhos D'Agua is about 15 minutes by bus from the Albufeira terminal. I have the bus times for local buses at www.algarvebus.info/002w.htm
The evening buses from Lisbon to Albufeira arrive after local bus service has ended, so you will need a taxi back to Olhos D'Agua.
