Torre da Medronheira Olhos Da Aqua

Hi I have booked a villa arriving 22.10.10, can anyone please advise the nearest largest supermarket as there is a group of us staying and we want to get stuff in for the week, for BBQ's n stuff. We have not hired a car so any advise on taxis would be great as well

There are Lidls all over the Algarve. They also stock BBQ gear :-)

There is an "Eco marche" in Olhos de agua and they are well stocked and have cheap things aswell as quality things aswell.

Thank you for the information, is guess it will be fairly quiet when we arrive with places closing due to end of the season. We are just looking forward to spending time on the beach with the kids and round the pool in the Villa. I have never been to this part before as we normally stay in Praia de Rocha. I believe that this area is a lot quieter than other areas. Does anyone know how much a taxi would be from here into the main towns

A taxi to the center of Albufeira will cost you around 4-5 euros.
And you have busses running roughly every hour from Olhos De Agua to Faro if you feel like popping in to that charming town.

The nearest LIDL is about 3 miles away at the old town end of Albufeira. There is a good and large Intermarche (Ecomarché's big brother) on the main road just between Olhos D'Agua and Torre da Medronheira - you are pretty certain to see it on the way in. Open every day until 8pm. Obviously I don't know where your villa is, but Intermarche would probably be walkable (ie less than half a mile) as it is a small area.
The Ecomarché is tucked away just off the main road among a cluster of other small shops, off licence etc.
Taxi number to call is 289 583 230 - the only number. You can't pre-book just ring a few minutes before you need one. There is a taxi rank at Olhos D'Agua.
Trip to old town end of Albufeira 7 or 8 Euros; to the new end ' The Strip' about 6.
Buses run every 30 - 60 minutes on weekdays to Albufeira in one direction and towards Vilamoura, Quarteira and Faro in the other. Buses are very sparse at weekends and don't run after about 7.30pm. Bus times if you want them on my personal website at www.algarvebus.info/002w.htm.

Is there a local bus service to and from Albufeira/Olhos d' Agua/Vilamoura and if so how often do they run ???

There was certainly a bus running in October 2007, as we caught it from Olhos D'Agua to Villamoura a couple of times. I'm 95% certain it came from Albufeira. Roughly hourly I think

There are indeed regular buses along that route. I have the timetables on my personal website at www.algarvebus.info/002e.htm for buses Albufeira - Olhos D'gua - Vilamoura - Quarteira - Faro and .../002w.htm for buses in the reverse direction. They are somewhat irregular (ie not at so many minutes past each hour) but they run at least twice an hour for most of the day during the week but are rather sparse (especially in the afternoons) on Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays. Last buses are around 730pm; there are no later evening buses.
The GIRO routes (Albufeira town bus services) do not go out to Olhos D'Agua.
Travel Tips for Albufeira
the sea stacks, and other rock formations

There's so many natural wonders in and near Albufeira that one would hardly get bored. The most impressive are the sea stacks - which are actually mostly located on beaches. When you reach Albufeira's beach from the town (through the tunnel) there's one on your left (the most impressive one). Another one lies at the very end of the beach - you'll finding by walking towards the pontoon and thewn further down the beach (where the first promontory starts). There's also natural arches in the sea - and sea and beach caves... as well as many really scenic and imposing cliffs

A wonderful water park. Not huge by any means, but a comfortable kind of place. A place for families. No huge queues, some great water chutes to suit all tastes. Lots of attendants overseeing the water chutes and lifeguards on duty.
A lovely grassed areas to sit/lie and relax, take a picnic and soak up the sun.
fee is 16.50 Euros - Adult
