Saudade

To know Portugal you need to understand the meaning of the word "Saudade", which has no exact translation in any language. To help you understand that meaning, I may say that "saudade" is what is felt by all of those that knew Albufeira 30 or 40 years ago, when it was a pure fishing village with good touristy resources, and compare to the actual craziness of massive construction and frenetic saturation.
"Que saudades"... from the times when the fishermen lunching in the sidewalks, invited us to sit and eat their fresh fish, only reciprocating offering a bottle of wine.
"Que saudades"... from the times when, coming out of the discotheques in the early morning Marinho invited us to enter his drifter and join his crew in one more day fishing in the open sea.
"Que saudades"... from the times when going to Oura was a calm promenade in the Mediterranean landscape, amidst almond trees and locust podshrubs.
"Que saudades"... from the times when Albufeira was... the old Albufeira!
Cape St Vincent

Cape St Vincent was one of my favourite memories of my first visit to Portugal a while ago, and of course it was our main day trip while in Algarve this last time. Remains of history and mythology in a incredible landscape, do we need anything else?

There are restaurants, snack bars, and locker rooms at Slide and Splash.
If you have gone self catering and have the use of a parasol at your apartment/villa take it with you to the water park, it will save you renting one when you get there. You can just stick it in the ground and save yourself some money. The park dont object to this, neither did they to people taking picnic/food into the park.
I found this water shute particular fast, or maybe it was just me. At the top of the shute were traffic signals and you couldnt take your go until it went to green. However, one time I was speeding down, screaming my head off as usual :-) when I rounded a bend and there was my son stuck, and a woman also!!!!! They said they had struggled to get down as there was not enough water flowing in the shute and it was not slippy enough. I never seemed to have that problem, maybe because my swimsuit was lycra and my sons swim shorts were a nylon material.
