Hotel Da Aldeia: In needs of some renovation    Check Rates
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • In the reviews of the hotel I also saw this comment, and well, let me explain ....

The hotel decoration is from the late 70ýs, specially the bathroom. The last time I saw a toilet, bide and shower like that was at my grandma lol until we changed :-)

But the room is nice, you can get a nice terrace, specially if the give you a front one. And enough space in wardrobe for clothes and space in bathroom with a big top for all bathroom staff (yes we always bring lots of staff I know, women!!!!)

Hotel Da Aldeia: The best of all    Check Rates

  • The best of all was the swimming pool, ok we only visited for 30 minutes in our last day lol, but it was a nice one, and obviously gave us nice views from our terrace.

You also can play tennis and mini golf.

Hotel Da Aldeia: Service and Staff    Check Rates
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Another of the bad reviews we saw, is the unfriendly staff.

ok, they were not the most friendly ones in the world, and I guess for foreigners it could look as they were rude (due to different standards) but they were very helpful when i asked for anything, so I can not complain.

service at the buffet was quick, when something was finishing, they were quick replacing (and quick closing it when it was 10.00 lol)

    Hotel Da Aldeia: Rather Noisy!
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • Mary and I didn't stay here, but VT members Carmela71 and Beach Dog did! They came to meet us, driving all the way from Marbella, Spain

According to Carmen and Stace the hotel was pleasant enough, but in a very noisy part of town, being adjacent to The Strip, probably the buisiest and noisiest part of Albufeira. Music and singing going on well into the small hours, and so on. As it was hot, windows had to be left open, so you can imagine the noise.

The interior of the hotel looked a little dated, and the barman seemed to fit in well here, LOL! Stace had told us that it seemed to take forever to order a drink, and for it to be served. He wasn't wrong! The patio area at the rear of the hotel, overlooking a pleasant swimming pool, seemed more sheltered from the outside noises.

Hotel Da Aldeia: A little bit noise    Check Rates
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:

  • After booking I read a few reviews of the hotel and I nearly change the booking loosing some money, all of them talked about:

Noise , true the strip is just there and there is noise till 5 in the morning, but as we read this, I emailed them asking for a swimming pool view room (It is supposed that going cheap you only get the ones overlooking to the strip. But they never answer the email :(

Anyway when we arrived late at night, I asked nicely with my best smile if possible for this kind of room as we had been driving 8 hours (ok it was only 6 lol) and been awake since 6 in the morning (again what can I say I am andalucian and we exaggerate lol), so we got it!!!

Hotel Da Aldeia: Not my first choice    Check Rates
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • When I first looked for hotels there, this was not my first choice (even if I do not remember the name of the other place, I remember it was in St Eulalia, so we could stay near Geoff and Mary.

But the next day I could not find the offer for the previous one so I booked this.

It was 40 Euros the double room per night with buffet breakfast, not bad at all.

Natura Sun Club Apartments: Nicely situated
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • The Natura Sun Club Apartments are used by various package travel companies, ours being First Choice Holidays. We booked a week using our local travel company in town. The price was quite high at over £800 for the two of us, but we didn't want to be bothered with the rigmarole of travelling from Cornwall to London, or even the Midlands for the flight. This flight was from Exeter, 50 miles drive, to Faro. What you lose on the roundabouts, you gain on the swings, I suppose.

We had no actual idea of the location of the Apartments before arriving in Albufeira, but were quite please to overhear someone saying that the apartments seemed to be 'the best so far', as the coach continued on its route, dropping off passengers. And he was probably not far wrong. Se just back from the Avenida Sa Carneiro, Santa Eulalia, to the east of Albufeira, the location was reasonably quiet, except for a couple dogs howling at about 5 am!! Oh, and someone had a Rooster in their garden, LOL!

    Only the best........
  • Tip Rating:

  • As always we seem to leave it until the last minute when booking a holiday and this was no exception.

We had booked a studio flat and knew we would be staying in the Algarve but actually where. Upon arrival at Faro airport we reported to the representative to be told that we were being taken to a villa as there were no studio flats available!!!

Well you cant complain can you :-)

    Here it is............

Fantastic private pool, great views, a bathroom each!!!!!

    This is the life....
  • Tip Rating:
  • Satisfaction:
  • So here we are in a private villa (it was apparently owned by a german doctor who let it during the summer months).

As I said we had only booked a studio apartment but having none available the holiday company put us in this 3 bed/bathroom villa, with its own pool, kitchen, dining room, patio, barbeque and the maid lived in a little cottage adjacent to the villa.

As with all late bookings sometimes it can work in your favour where you are put and sometimes people are not so lucky. We on this occasion were very lucky.

Stunning views across to the Atlantic Ocean.

Although we were more than happy and satisfied with our chosen accommodation (we had looked it up on web pages before booking!), it was rather expensive.

When we left Exeter, we were sat next to a couple from Falmouth (although we didn't know it at the time), and coincidentally we sat next to them again on the return trip. We got chatting to them and discovered that they had arranged their accommodation through a company in Exeter (whose name excapes me). They had an exclusive villa, with TV and all the things you don't usually get in an apartment, and, what's more, they had the use of a car, FREE, for the whole week! They paid about £200 less than we did, and got a far better deal, so just do shop around before you book.
