More about Hotel Apartamento Brisa Sol Albufeira

Brisa Sol, excellent resort in Albufeira, Portugal

by TripAdvisor Member mkendrick

We visited Brisa Sol in May 2005. The hotel is very clean, the studio apartments spacious and well furnished, and the staff very friendly. There are two pools, outdoor and indoor, the latter being heated. The poolside snack bar sells a wide range of snacks, meals and beverages including alcoholic drinks, at reasonable prices. The Bar Algarve is an excellent place to unwind at the end of the day, and features a cocktail menu and nightly entertainment. The hotel restaurant, Dom Pio, serves delicious international cusine and the prices are not as high as you might expect. In the unlikely event of bad weather there is a games room, with several games machines, pool tables and a mini crazy golf course. Next door to the hotel is Modelo supermarket where those who are self catering can get everything they need. The hotel is 35km from Faro, the nearest airport, and is situated midway between the old town and new town areas of Albufeira. The walk to either of these areas is about 15 to 20 minutes, though a free shuttle bus operates from the hotel to the local beach, and taxis will only cost 3.10 euros and leave from outside Modelo. There is also a road train that connects all the areas of Albufeira which stops just outside the hotel. Visitors to the area will find many bars and restaurants in Old town and New town, most of which serve good quality food and drink. Brisa Sol is an excellent hotel, and is better situated and of a higher quality than most of the other similar local complexes. If you are travelling to Albufeira you will not find a better place to stay for the money.

We have stayed at the Brisa Sol Hotel many times and always had a great holiday. All the staff are friendly and the rooms are nice and clean. The location of the hotel is excellent it is a 10 minute walk to the old town and 15 minutes to the strip. The poolside area is set in a large garden area given everyone lots of space. I recommend that you have a cake from the cafe in the hotel. It is the best holiday ever!!!

disapointing in winter

spent new year at the Brisa Sol in self catering accomodation. excelent location for beach and i could imagine it being lovely in the summer. The cooking equipment had a lot to be desired .....half an hou for the kettle to boil!!!!!!! teo coking rings and no microwave!! thank god for mcdonalds across the road! very clean efficient hotel only thing that really let it down was a few of the reception staff who could hve been more helpful and friendly. if your going make sure you go to zoo marine, fantastic place.if your looking for presents avoid strip, very tacky.if you go to the gypsey market be prepared to be chased all round it by women selling table clothes! .....was amusing at first, then got annoying! i do intend to go back but would have an upgraded room.

Great location but not a 4 Star hotel

by TripAdvisor Member MusicFanDublin

Stayed here in September with my girlfriend for 2 weeks. Location is excellent, only 10 minutes from the Old Town where there are plenty of restaurants (try Anna's), also there is a superb restaurant very near hotel on the way to the Old Town ( think it was called A Casa do Chefe)! Room is very basic but clean and functional. Try to get a room overlooking the pool and NOT the street. Pool is great (kids pool too), plenty of loungers though parasols are at a premium if like me, you are pale and Irish!

Avoid the strip if you don't like tackiness! Would recommend the 2 day trip to Lisbon which is available in the town!

As our first time in Portugal, unsure of resort or hotel to choose. Glad we chose trip advisor for recommendations.Could not fault hotel although beware of trafic noise if in apartments backing onto main road. Took early flight from UK, arrived at hotel at 10.00am only to be advised that accomadation would not be available until at least 2.30pm, so advise to pack beachwear for ease of access.Recommeded restaurants Alfredo's. 100yd's turn left out of hotel and Blue Sky off The Strip, both Portugese owned and run.Cheapest and considered cosiest British Bar, Floyds 150yds from Hotel on way to Old Town.Did all the usual trips, advise shopping around for best deals (Modelo's) next to hotel.Found hotel to be very clean ,apartments spacious, with all necessary requirements. Pool area spotless. If further sunbeds are required do not hesitate to ask at the snack bar and they will be instantly oblige Have a nice holiday.

ALBUFEIRA - ALGARVE

"The bad stuff."

We returned to Albufeira for the first time in 13 years and were disappointed with some parts of the area which have been spoiled by the growth in popularity of the resort which is really unfortunate.

Some parts are still good but others are getting a little bit like Blackpool in the sun which is fine if you like that sort of thing but it's not my cup of tea.

We were really surprised how much things have changed as we visited some of our old haunts. Everything seemed to have changed and not for the better. The biggesst shock was when we came across a strip club at the top of "cardiac hill" at praia de oura.

I wouldn't want to be there in the middle of the high season.

"The good stuff."

We had been to the Albufeira area a few times before and had stayed close to the strip. Luckily we didn't this time and instead booked a hotel in between The Strip and the old town - good move.

The area around the strip has definitely gone down market in my opinion and just didn't have the same atmosphere that we were used to. I thought that we would end up having to trek from our hotel to the strip every night but in fact we only went there once in the afternoon and then came away agin, never to return.

The hotel that we booked was fab, the area around it was just right for us and we were really pleased with our choice. If you like to lay on a beach all day then this is the place for you. There are miles of golden sands to choose from in and around Albufeira.

"Location, location, location !!"

The Albufeira area is still good but, unless you want fish & chips, lager louts and strip clubs you need to choose your location carefully.

We stayed at the Brisa Sol which lies between The Strip & the Old Town. I was a little unsure about the location but it turned out to be perfect. There was plenty of good restaurants in the area and we could walk into the old town in about 15 minutes and come back on the "Wally train" if we were feeling lazy.

Despite the disappointments of some areas we would go back if we were in the same area. The hotel was good and fairly quiet as it was early in the year, we liked the surrounding area and we were blessed with lovely weather. What more could you want?

cheap apts needed.

by cherylemichelle

Hi.
We are two families going to the algarve. We need two apts near each other,
but are finding these very hard to find as most are very expensive. Can anyone
help? We would like to stay in Albufeira near the strip if possible. And have
a pool.
Regards Cheryle.

Hi there,

I was in Albufeira last summer. I booked at Regina Apartments. They are very central and Albufeira is really small. The strip is not too close but you can have a nice walk and visit it.

Albufeira is a small fishing village with many bars, pubs and restaurants. Beautiful beaches are everywhere.

Albufeira is I am afraid no longer a small fishing village - I live here. Population of the urban area is 35,000 residents; well over 100,000 at peak summer time.

The old town is clinging on but extensive 'modernisation' is under way. The 'Strip' is about 2 miles away.

Nevertheless it is a good venue for a holiday, despite being expensive in the peak summer months you can sometimes get a good deal.

Private apartments are hard to come by in the centre, but there are several apartment hotels eg Brisa Sol, Paraiso, Oura Mar, Oura Praia that you might check out as a alternative. These are all between old town and strip maybe 10 - 15 minutes walk from each at the most.

I didn't mean to offend. I know it may be not that small and full of tourists each summer but if you come from a big polluted city it may still look like a small quiet spot to relax and enjoy your days.. it's not a city for sure!

Hi, It depends when you are going, if you go out of season you can get apartments for under 100 pounds, if it is in school holidays then it is silly prices. If you look on greatlatedeals.co.uk you can find apartments at very good prices. If you want to be near the strip Ouratlantico Apts are very good value and a 2 minutes stroll from the strip. If you have children then Clube Praia Da Oura is great but more expensive and they will not guarantee you are put near each other. The bottom of the Strip is called Praia Da Oura (or just Oura) and the middle is called Areas Sao Jao and there are literally dozens of apartments in these area's just check them on any maps, regards Mr T.

we have just come back from albufeira. we stayed at janelos do mar apartments booked through freedom direct. we had 2 apartments next to each other each having enough room for 4 people. we went in easter hols for 2 weeks and each apt only cost about 200. they also have indoor swimming pool which is very good and it is not that far to the strip.
