Hi, could anyone please tell me the current sterling to euro exchange rate when changing in Albufeira. We are arriving next week and wondering whether to exchange here or there?

Yesterday in town for cash.
£ = 1.089
US $ = 0.692
CAN $ = 0.606
You will get about the same rate if taking Euros from a cash machine.
You will always get a slightly better rate for cash if changing in the UK.
Weigh up the loss of a couple of cents in the pound against carrying a large wad of cash from the UK then losing it or having it stolen.

Watch Stace Eat!
Second day, and we decided to try for somewhere different. On the recommendation of their hotel, Stace and Carmen took us on a route march almost down into the Old Town, to some obscure Restaurant. Finally finding our way to the restaurant, through some side streets, we decided that, from the outside it didn't look very inviting, so, we returned to The Strip. so that was the best part of an hour lost (note, I never said wasted!), and we found ourselves back at El Rancho for a second night. Stace, having had the Portuguese Steak the night before, I decided to try it for myself. Mmmmmmmmmmmm, delicious! And, probably a lower price than many other nearby restaurants. More icecreams, and fattening chocolate fudge cake!! Oh, and wine.

This was taken October 2004. Last time I was here was in 1986 - the place was not the developed tourist area that it is today. However, the raw beauty in certain areas and the blue blue water still makes this a great destination.
