Help on choosing a hotel!!!!
Hiya,
I'm going to Albufeira with my boyfriend at the end of June for one week and i'm a bit stuck on which hotel/apartment to go for. I've been looking at lots of reviews on the internet but not sure which are the 'real' good ones! We would like to be close to the beach and fairly close to the main strip and the old town. Not too sure on how everything is positioned. Would like to do some watersports, and be fairly close to some nice restaurants as we want to go self catering. Hotel to be clean and have a nice swimming pool and plenty of sunbeds. Not too fussed on the food in the hotel as we will eat out. Just something suitable for a couple! Can anyone give any suggestions and who to book with?

good you tell me if there is a train which i can get from albuferia which will take me roun the algrave coast or part of it. travelling august. and if anyone has a good recommendation on a hotel/ apartment in albuferia . close to the beach, bars, restaurants and old town thanks

there is the slow Algarve regional train which plys between Vila Real de Santo Antonio and Lagos stopping at every main town including Albufeira
if not that, the buses also run regular service
VT member Cubsur is the expert person who can truly offer the best info on Algarve, hopefully he will come on to pick up things for you

Yes do note especially that the railway station called Albufeira is 4 miles/6 km from the town!
You may find the bus more convenient for certain journeys along the coast. You will find all the information on my website as mentioned in teh post above.

Here are some hotels in the old town - very, very busy in August so book now if you can.
Hotel Baltum - right in the old town, small rooms but very handy.
Sol e Mar Hotel - right on the beach; a few steps.
Rocamar Beach Hotel - above the beach there is a lift or about 100 steps.
Turial Park apartments - 100 yards from the beach. Flat access.
Estalagem do Cerro (Hotel) - about 5 - 10 minutes walk from the beach, bars etc in a slightly quieter part of town. Parking available
Hotel California - 50 m from the beach , in the 'bar street', might be noisy.
Residencial Mansao Bertolina - 100 m from the beach in older part of town.
Hotel Vila Sao Vicente - a quarter mile from the old town centre and beaches. Small hill to climb. Underground car park for guests.
Hotel Colina do Mar - about six or seven minutes walk into the old town centre. Fairly stiff climb back up the hill afterwards though.
Vila Recife - about 5 minutes walk from old town square. Small pool and air-con. www.vilarecife.com
Belver Boa Vista - about 10 minutes walk from old town centre and beaches; recently refurbished.
Note that the old town of Albufeira is now a pedestrian zone and the only central parking is a multi-storey car park for €1 per hour and this is usually full early during holiday season.
There are car parks on the edge of town but some are 10 minutes walk from the beach/centre.
You should be able to find comments/reviews on these by searching through Google.
