Only the best........
As always we seem to leave it until the last minute when booking a holiday and this was no exception.
We had booked a studio flat and knew we would be staying in the Algarve but actually where. Upon arrival at Faro airport we reported to the representative to be told that we were being taken to a villa as there were no studio flats available!!!
Well you cant complain can you :-)
Here it is............
Fantastic private pool, great views, a bathroom each!!!!!

This is the life....
So here we are in a private villa (it was apparently owned by a german doctor who let it during the summer months).
As I said we had only booked a studio apartment but having none available the holiday company put us in this 3 bed/bathroom villa, with its own pool, kitchen, dining room, patio, barbeque and the maid lived in a little cottage adjacent to the villa.
As with all late bookings sometimes it can work in your favour where you are put and sometimes people are not so lucky. We on this occasion were very lucky.
Stunning views across to the Atlantic Ocean.

I don't have any experiences on other hotels in this city. Therefore, I cannot really compare this hotels to any other. I just mention here my experiences with this hotel.
Pros: Good location in the city centre. Reception open 24 hours a day. Reception very friendly. Clean rooms with balkon.
Cons: Breakfast rather slim, our room had a safe but no key in it and the air condition was broken but they got it fixed. Our room ran out of toilet paper all the time. It seemed that they were lacking of it.

Agua Pedra Dos Bicos: 4-star luxury
The hotel is very modern, beautifully and tastefully furnished and decorated and maintained and is in a quiet location not far from plenty of bars, shops and restaurants.
It's a 10-minute walk to "the Strip" and a 25 - 30 minute walk to the old town although buses run frequently and taxis are reasonable.
The pool seemed small but was actually perfectly sized for the number of guests.
The rooms were spacious and very comfortable, with a TV, small fridge, hairdryer and modern bathroom.
The balcony was small but there was a sliding shutter that could be placed to shade the room, or the seats which was a fantastic idea.
The room safe was free - that is a big saving sometimes!
Note - the check-OUT time is 12 Noon so we were not able to get our room until 3pm because it was not yet ready. CHECK if you book - it's no good getting an early flight if you intend to go straight to your room when you arrive.! There are lovely spacious rest rooms to change in, and they keep your luggage secure while you wait so you can head-off for lunch or a stroll while waiting.
Really modern, tasteful and high-quality furnishings and fittings.
The staff were professional, discreet, friendly and helpful.
The tranquil location is ideal for a peaceful stay but within easy distance to the "life".

Club Oceano apartments: Lovely quiet hotel
This aparthotel is in a residential area, which makes for a quiet location. It only has 77 rooms and 5 floors.
The rooms although fairly basic for a 3 star are clean, airy and comfortable.
The staff are outstanding, and nothing is ever too much trouble.
There is a medium sized pool, and a small childrens pool, and plenty of sunloungers.
Children arn't really catered for, but for adult couples it is a perfect hotel. We are looking forward to returning.
Maid service is very evident, and towels are changed every other day. This hotel is highly recommended.
Outstanding characteristics are mainly the wonderful staff who run this hotel.
A lovely location.

Hotel Atlantis *****: Accommodation in Vilamoura
I stayed at this hotel in July 2004..it's in Vilamoura, on the beach and next to the Casino and Marina. The location was excelent, but the services...unfortunatly not so good. Nice indoor pool, very big rooms with lots of space. It is an old hotel, renovated regularly, but still it smells old...don't get me wrong, it is a good hotel, but for 5 stars, i expect more.
Great swiming pools: indoor and outdoor with beautiful gardens surrounding it, just in front of the sea..i stayed at the 6th floor and the view from our big balcony was magnificent. Very nice buffet breakfast, but the pool bar service was terrible...the staff was not very friendly..
