Rede-Expressos/EVA fare is either 18 or 19 Euros depending on which bus.

both sites are in Portuguese only. Prior reservation strongly advised, especially around major holidays and for northbound travel on Sunday afternoons/evenings.
The parish (or Main) Church is located on the rua de Igreja Nova, and dates to 1782. It was Blessed on 15ht July 1800 by Don Francisco Gomes de Avelar, Bishop of the Algarve, and replacees the former Parish Church destroyed in 1755.
Built in the Neo-classical style, with only one nave, it has 4 lateral chapels, the baptismal chapel, the choir, two pulpits and two lateral rooms.
Sagres lies at the extreme south-west point of Europe
The lighthouse dates from 1906, it has the strongest beam of light of Europe, the light extending over 100 km.
My husband walked all the way to the lighthouse but the wind was too strong for me!
It is impressive to know you are at the extreme point of Europe!
They call this westerly point : Gabo de St. Vincente.
Prince Hendrik the seafarer was the founder of the navigate school during the 15th century.
His house is still there, nowadays used as a youth hostel.
During the period of the seafarers the capes of Sagres and Sao Vincente where holy places, people shivered when they looked down at the dark ocean, in their opinion the end of the world!
Hendrik the seafarer (1394 – 1460) proved with his discoveries that there was more at the other end of the Atlantic ocean.
All the famous seafarers came from his school : Vasco da Gama who discovered the sea road to India. And the discoverer form Brasilia, Cabral Magellan, who sailed around the world.
Nightlife, Beaches .... Albufeira has them, but also if you move around there are other places to see that would show you the beauty of this country and its history, like visiting Sagres and the cape or the monumental city of Silves ... and more (Sorry did not had enough time to visit all them, but the next time I will ....)
I could not find the places I went 17 years ago, I could only recognise the beach, but it has changed so much.... I guess it has happened the same to many of the Spanish resorts :(
Our main reason to go was to meet our friends Geoff and Mary (yes maybe you know them, he spends many hours here on VT with the name of Geoff_Wright ;-) ....)
We had a great time and hope to meet you two again soon .... maybe Italy?????? (hehehe trying to convince you!!!!)
