We'll be in Albufeira in a couple of weeks and I've heard good things about Portugese gold jewellery. Any suggestions for jewellers there?
We've been to the Algarve several times.
My wife has never bought any gold jewellery there, so I doubt that there is much to look for in the way of gold jewellery.
Better to look at pottery, leather, port and enjoy the good, cheap wine while you are there!
And get out of Albufeira as much as you can. It's just another "city" full of apartments. There are a lot more interesting places on the Algarve to explore.

Worth a look, if anyone has a recommendation (seems Portugese jewellery is often 15 carats, unusual by European standards as I understand it) for a reliable, honest jeweller, I'd appreciate it.
.is a small village with a very long beach extending over 6 miles to Albufeira.
Armacao the Pera isn't a very attractive place, lots of hotels are build in the past years.
That made that Armacao de Pera didn't kept it's origin and that is a pity
The portuguese food shouldn't be considered as a coulinaristic experience which it isn't. Ok, there are really good meals but at least I get bored for a fish food after some days. This restaurant was the best I experienced int he city. It has great views towards the sea, as well. They make their own strawberry booze which they sell out, as well. The portions are huge. Atmosphere is nice. Especially the melon and smoked ham was very splendid. If I have to choose from various fish-meals, the Valecian Paelha seems bit better than others.
I've been to Albufeira 3 times, love to visit the Algarve. Lots of tourists, sure, but there's a laid back feeling that I love. People are nice, but not overly so, the weather is glourius and the food i usually great. And it helps that a lot of the other tourists are British - this means that things are catered to them and I get my beloved Walkers crisps and my ale. Things I can't find at home...
