Not so good, Cerro Alagoa
by cmak about Vila Gale Cerro Alagoa
You need to apply for a mini-bar, with 50Euro deposit upfront. Food is ok. Entertainment, quite good, I saw some traditional Portguese dances.
The facility is ok, it has an outdoor pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, heated indoor pool and gym. But you have to pay for the use of everything except the pools. It will be great if the facility is free, but paying 1.75Euro to hire their beach towel isn't too much of an experience! But paying about 5 pounds sterling will let you use all facility all day...
The staff are friendly thou! They might give you a hand-drawn, badly photocopied map of the surroundings, BEWARE, it is abs not to scale and to behonest, quite useless.
All in all, prices are quite attractive =) Jungle themed indoor heated pool, hotel at good location
Good all round hotel Cerro alagoa
by rob-craig about Cerro Alagoa
This hotel we booked for 2 weeks in january on a package deal we went b&b and paid £176 each for the fortnight. It is the first time I have ever stayed in a hotel that actually had cooking facilities in the room ,definately recomend this hotel to all you vt,ers. Superb indoor pool, gym, sauna and jaccuzzi facilities. All of the staff here were great, the food at breakfast was the same every day I AM GLAD TO SAY because it was top class and so varied cereals trad continental or full english .set just a 10 min stroll from the old town in Albufeira opposite Muckdonalds.
Disappointed....

Prior to visiting Albuferia's Vila Gale Cerro Alagoa
hotel in July we researched the hotels features and
location. We read that the front of the hotel was in a
noisy location so we paid extra to be moved to the
"garden" area on the back of the hotel where it is
quieter. The only problem was there was a basketball
court for the apartment complex located behind us. and unfortunately there was a basketball game going on until well past midnight. Finally...the basketball noise died down but approximately an hour later our room neighbors came home and were awake slamming doors in and out of the porch area for the next 3 hours until 5 o'clock am. We did what we could by contacting the front desk and asking that we be moved and requesting they as our neighbors to hold it down. Their response to being moved was they were to full and the only rooms they had were suites on the street/noisy side of the hotel. They never called or stopped by our neighbors room to request they hold it down because the walls were paper thin and we could hear a conversation from 6 doors away. This is all in addition to no closet space for our clothes, a leaking air conditioner and extremly rude staff including a manager who dosent care...he laughed inour face when we told him we would pay more for a quieter, cleaner, nicer room....
Excellent Location

Just returned from a fantastic stay in Albufeira, and would definitely recommend the Vila Gale Cerro Alagoa.
Thought the staff were very friendly, the hotel was spotlessly clean and the breakfast was abundant with plenty of choice. The poolside bar was great for an afternoon drink with the pool area clean and safe. The only complaint I would make is that some of the loungers and umbrellas could be replaced around the pool - there was more than 1 individual who whilst relaxing in the sun got a shock when their lounger collapsed!!!
Albufeira itself is a great place - we stayed predominantly around the old town in the evening - thought the strip was a bit tacky. Some of the restaurants were excellent - Bravas steakhouse gets a thumbs-up, as well as the restaurants on the sea-front - the food is excellent and great value. The street of bars gives some choice for after dinner drinks - with the Neil Diamond impersonator on the street, and later in the Vegas bar giving some "hilarious" performances!!!
All-in-all this was agreat holiday and will definitely be back to both resort and hotel.

lovely hotel were lucky rnough to be upgraded to a senior suite .we had 2 large bedrooms,2 bathrooms,3 balcony's over looking the ppool and gardens and alarge lounge all in all a lovely hotel. only down side was the bathrooms could do with a bit of a revamp. breakfast was ample with lots of choice and the buffet evening meals were very good value for money.location of hotel was good being only 10 mins stroll from the beach and the old town which has a great atmosphere at night. we had a great time and would use this hotel again.
Very friendly hotel

Nice room, good view of the sea in the distance. Staff very friendly and obliging. Good value lunches at the pool bar although service could be slow at times. The pool is quite small for the size of the hotel and you do need to reserve sunbeds despite the 'polite letter'. Very safe for younger children, they all enjoyed the games room - outside bar area (evenings) could do with a refurbishment. Very convenient for old town but wear sensible shoes as cobbles are very slippy. Good mini bus service to beaches. All areas were very clean and towels were changed daily. Any maintenance problems were dealt with promptly.
