What is the best option for transfers from the aiport - shuttle bus, taxi or car hire? I'm not all that keen on hiring a car on this particular trip. I came across a site for transfers - it was like Rappo or something like that.
Going to the Balaia Apartments in June. Any reviews on this location.

There are no shuttle buses at the airport as such.
Most people who don't hire a car opt for a pre-booked transfer. There are several companies operating cars and people carrier type vehicles for door to door service.
Try the websites of these companies for typical prices. The journey will be about 35 minutes and should cost no more than 30 Euro.

Some companies including Resorthoppa often use larger vehicles which, although making it cheaper, almost always seems to mean that you are last off after a tour of every other hotel in the region.
You can do the journey to Balaia on the ordinary bus for 7 Euros if you have time to spare and you don't arrive at the airport after about 6pm.
You can catch bus from the airport into town (or a 10 min taxi ride) and then a bus from Faro to Balaia - it's the slow bus to Albufeira and that bit of the journey alone will take about an hour.

Portugal is a football crazy country. The 2 main clubs in Portugal are probably Benfica and Porto. My friend Jon bought the Porto shirt while we were there and the locals kept coming up to him in the evening when he wore the shirt to pat him on the back and buy him drinks!!!
This little chapel, hidden among white houses, used to be – during the moorish invasion, a little mosque. When the Moors were chased away it became the Governor’s chapel and subsequently - in 1499 - it was restored and became the "Capela da Misericórdia". It doesn’t look so old from the outside, however, and this is due to the fact that most of the exterior had been demolished in 1755 by a big earthquake. When it was re-restored part of it were rebuilt in gothic style. Inside you can see a carved wooden altar piece supporting an image of Our Lady of the Visitation and of the Dead Father and also the tomb of Rui Dias who was probably the first Governor of the Castle.
