The Tucano bar is the main Bar / Entertainment area of The Pestana Delfim Hotel
and is situated down the stairs. This is where the Pestana Entertainment team put on the shows and were other entertainment like music, dancing and of course drinking takes place.
Anybody can go in, you do not have to be a resident at the hotel and entertainment programs can be found in the reception.

At nights the Hotel Delfim has entertainment from singers and musicians to the hotels entertainment team putting on a cabaret. anybody can go, it;s not fantastic but it's ok

we recently returned from the delfim alvor on 29th june 06. we had booked this as a last min holiday and only paid £279 pp on a b&b basis. The downside was flying LTE airlines from Prestwick airport via a small airport in kent,as previous feedback dicatated there was 1 & 1/2 hours delay going and 2 hrs coming home.The airline was one of the worst i have used but please do not let this put you off, remember it is a short flight and the stop over at kent breaks up the flight. anyway the tour op was seguro who i found to be very good, a nice air-cond coach, first drop off and friendly reps. the hotel was beautiful, well appointed bright rooms a wide variety of breakfast food, and fab beaches. The hotel was overpriced for drinks, and the lifts were a problem but we were allowed to use the service lifts behind reception.. only a 10 min walk into alvor. The hotel provides a free bus into portomao and this is well worth the trip, nice cafe culture mixed with old town.lf you miss the bus home a taxi is only 8-9 euros which you can get in the same street as the bus drops you at. i can recommend vagabonds restaurant in alvor for a steak meal and al dente if you fancy italian. If boarding a taxi from the hotel ask to be dropped at the taxi rank and it will take you into the heart of alvor. pick up a street map found in the doorway of most shops for discounts in shops etc. we have re-booked this hotel for september this year and would certainly recommend it.
Just back from two weeks in The Delfim and not sure if we'd go back.Bad enough our flight was delayed 4 hours from Dublin but then we had to sit on a coach for nearly two hours with two bored and tired children.Eventually arrived at the hotel and immmediately impressed by its beauty but upon checking in was told the rooms we had booked weren't ready yet.One member of staff managed to get a smile out.For our troubles they put us in a suite for the night with the option to stay there if we wanted to,which we did.After bringing our bags to our room on a trolley and receiving a tenner tip from me the oldest guy then put his hand out to my mother in law suggesting a tip while I was putting the bags away in the other room.She gave him a tenner not knowing that I already had.Honesty, ha ha ha.Due to our late arrival we were hungry so three sambos cost us 21 euro on room service,shortly after getting 20 euro in tips the same oldest guy was back looking for more just for bringing them up in the lift.Very clean room,great cleaning staff and nice food.That's about it as regards good things.Only 2 lifts working for first week but you could use the service lift amidst stares and pointing from staff.Drink very expensive,bad mannered staff in bars and restaraunts,no kids pool,no on site kids club(they had to be dropped to reception and collected by bus to be brought to another hotel and kids club stuff like t-shirts had to be purchased if you wanted them),no interactive or kids evening entertainment like most places I've stayed.Once outside the hotel the holiday was brilliant.Alvor great and relaxing at night with all small cosy bars and no clubs.Check out Marias Bar for a great meal and cheap night, oh and tell Antonio that Elvis from Dublin sent you
Have just returned from the Delfim after a 12 day holiday. We really enjoyed it, but had a couple of grumbles. As with previous guests, we found the lift problem still there. 3 working and 1 still out of action after months and months. There is no excuse for this. We were nearly at the top of the hotel and sometimes had to wait a long time for a lift. Eventually found a service lift which was not adverised on our floor. Our other main grumble was that the beautiful swimming pool was just too cold which was bitterly disappointing and because of this we would have doubts about returning to this hotel I don't think we saw more than half a dozen people in it the whole time we were there and the weather was hot and sunny most of the time. As for the food, we were staying half board and would say on the whole it was good. The dining room was very crowded at times and we sometimes had difficulty finding a table. The hotel was very clean and our maid service was excellent.
Overall though, we enjoyed our holiday. The view from our bedroom was absolutely superb.
Good hotel. Rooms spacious. Entertainment minimal, but New Years Eve very good. Food sometimes below par, but on the whole very good. Taxi (4 people) either to Alvor or Portamao was covered by 5 euros, including tip.
Fish restaurants in Alvor brilliant. Must see - zoomarine. It's a better show than Florida.
Possibly better to go room only/B&B and buy food out. It's cheap enough. Hotel drink more costly than outside.

Alvor looks absolutely fantastic and I am hoping to travel to the Pestana Delfim with my husband and two chidlren aged 8 & 6 for 12 days at the end of June. I believe the hotel is currently closed for refurbishment, reopening in March. I have booked a seaview room (a suite would be great but is an extra €500!). Has anybody any travel tips/advice on the Delfim hotel and things for the chidlren to do both in and around the hotel?
Delfim is high on a hill above Alvor, so it's a bit of a walk (maybe 1/2 mile)down to the nearest beaches etc and of course back up again afterwards. Alvor itself is nearly a mile away. The huge Praia da Alvor (Alvor beach) is a similar distance, Alvor itself being a little way upriver and away from the sea.
You don't say how you will be getting from the airport to hotel, but if you have a car there are several theme parks/waterparks in the area that will be fairly easy to get to. Check out Zoomarine, Slide 'n' Splash and Aquashow - they have websites in English.
Alvor itself is a fishing village gone touristy. You can get boat rides out to sea etc from the old harbour in the centre.
There is a bus that stops right outside the hotel that will take you to Lagos in 25 minutes. It's a nice town to visit on a day out. Otherwise there are local buses on the main road at the bottom of the hill to take you to Portimao, the nearest city. Portimao is not a seaside place but has plenty of nice shops!

I have stayed twice at this Hotel and loved it. The reception and waiting staff were exceptionally helpful and pleasant. Breakfast is amazing! The cocktail bar is great for pre dinner drinks and the pool area is delightful. There are various activities on offer every day. It is a very short walk to the beach through the private gardens and there is an area on the beach for residents.I am sure that your family will love it.
