Vila Vita Parc

A grassy area for sunbathing overlooks the Atlantic from atop the cliff with great panoramas. At a distance from the main pool and buildings, it was often empty. One photo is straight down to the ocean, the source of the crashing waves that make this such a calm restful oasis.

The most remarkable feature of the hotel is the gardens with their ponds and fountains between the major buildings. They just breathe tranquility and peace (and are highly recommended for relaxation after getting humiliated by the pitch and putt course).

One reaches the beach by descending this long flight of stairs cut into the rocks. At the time of our visit, the beach had washed away - exposed to the Atlantic Ocean - but is periodically replenished. Most of the action at this hotel is at the multiple pools anyway. But then you notice the setting of the beach - how spectacular can a beach be?

This relatively new clifftop resort hotel features about 180 rooms and suites all done in a light and airy decor and all remarkably spacious. The buildings have a hint of Moorish architecture and stand white against the extensive gardens in which the hotel is set. We felt like we were in a small condominum suite. It offers every modern convenience both in the rooms and as activities. There is a spa, health club, multiple pools, and an absolutely vicious 9 hole pitch and putt course on the cliff overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. Bring lots of balls. The included breakfast buffet is unending and superb. There are a multitude of bars and restaurants on premise as well. The accompanying photographs highlight the architecture and the flowered walls of this hotel.

Unique Quality: The setting of the hotel is truly superb, which is very important because Armacao de Pera is nothing special. Fortunately, it is a short easy drive over to Albufeira.
