I arrived in Faro without having booked any accomodation in advance. So I went to the tourist information and asked for a room within my budget. They recommended Pensao Adelaide which is a very inexpensive 4 star guesthouse run by an old-ish lady and her son. All rooms are equipped with private bathroom, air-conditioning, TV and refrigerator. The price for a single room which was actually a double room was 25 Euro (2006) and included a basic breakfast in the adjacent bar. | Eva Hotel: Four Star Accommodation in a Prime Location

This is a 4**** hotel in a prime location, overlooking Faro's marina . Rooms are comfortable though not particularly spacious or luxurious but each room comes with a fairly big balcony. There's a swimming pool on the roof along with several comfortable sitting areas with truly splendid views. A substantial buffet breakfast is served on the fifth floor overlooking the port and the Rio Formosa. Downstairs, there's a health club, gym, Turkish bath and Spa. There's also a bar and internet access in the lobby. The decor in the lobby is outstanding and over all, the hotel gives an impression of quiet sophistication. I did not find the staff particularly friendly and absolutely no information about Faro was available at reception. I would stay here again for the convenience of location, great breakfast and lovely views but I would book a twin rather than double room. The double beds ( at least in the standard rooms ) were definitely a bit on the small side, though extremely comfortable otherwise.
The most outstanding feature of this hotel is it's prime location right in the centre of Faro. Everything, including bus and train station is on your doorstep and the views over the port and lagoon are quite spectacular. My studio. by Maurizioago The studio (mini apartment) I booked had a sofa you have to turn into a bed; the kitchenette with satellite tv and a bathroom with tub. It also had a big terrace. A weekly cleanings and sheet changes were made by a maid.
The aparments have air conditioning, that is necessary during the summer. These are in a building with a lift and are not far from the town center and from the bus station.

 | Eva Hotel: 4* hotel by the marina

I stayed at the 4* Hotel Eva for one night in late January 2007. At this time of year, a twin room (with breakfast) cost us just 40GBP a night. Along with nearby Hotel Faro, this is one of two 4* hotels located next to Faro's marina. Having passed the Hotel Faro on numerous occasions during our weekend in the city, I feel that we made the right choice in opting for the Eva. Although I didn't go inside the Hotel Faro, I felt that it had a less favourable location, set back from the marina with no balconies overlooking it. The two hotels were quoting a similar room rate at the time of our visit. Location Hotel Eva is located right next to the marina in the centre of Faro. Many of the rooms (including the one that we stayed in) have balconies that offer excellent views. Due to the few guests at this time of year, I suspect that all visitors in the off-season enjoy a room with a view over the marina. In the busier summer months, you may end up in a room at the back of the hotel with a less favourable view over the adjacent bus station. From the hotel, the old town part of Faro is a 5 minute walk away at the opposite end of the marina, while the more modern part of town (with dozens of restaurants, shops and small bars) is a similar distance away inland. The hotel can be reached from Faro airport by taxi in 10 minutes (cost: 8 Euros at January 2007).
. Hotel Facilities The friendly reception staff speak perfect English and the checking in process was very efficient. Officially, you can only check in after 2pm, but in the off-season we were allowed to check straight in at 10:30am without any problems. The hotel has 148 rooms, including singles, doubles, twins and suites, situated on five floors, with the top floor of the hotel given over to a restaurant. Guests have free use of the hotel's health club (including a fully equipped gym, a sauna and a Turkish bath), although we didn't use them during our brief stay. There is an excellent, cosy bar on the ground floor of the hotel. You can relax in a comfy armchair, watching live football on the large screen TV while sipping cold Superbock beer (2.50 Euros per 500ml). Parking is available directly outside the hotel for an additional charge. Bedrooms Our twin room had two beds, satellite TV, air conditioning/heating, a large wardrobe, a dressing table, a couple of armchairs, a couple of plastic chairs for use on the balcony and a spotlessly clean bathroom. There were various leaflets, guidebooks and directories on the bedside cabinets for our information. The room was clean and fairly spacious, with lots of natural light. If you have the opportunity, ask for one of the rooms with a balcony overlooking the marina - the views are excellent! A good value hotel with an unbeatable central location. Arguably the most luxurious hotel in the centre of Faro, but still very affordable - especially in the off-season. Highly recommended! Hotel Faro by AnnS I chose Hotel Faro purely for convenience and because it's one of only two 4* hotels in the centre of Faro. From details available on the Internet, there didn't look much to choose between them but the Faro advertised WiFi availability so that's why I chose it. And as it turned out, it was lucky I did. The hotel is right in the centre of the town, facing the harbour, right beside the shops and close to the railway station and airport bus stop, so the location couldn't be better. The reception staff were helpful and friendly but even though I'd booked a WiFi enabled room, and they'd confirmed it in writing, there wasn't one available when I arrived so I had to spend the first night in a room without it and change rooms the next day. There's a bar and restaurant on the top floor and the prices were reasonable but the service, although efficient, didn't come with a smile. However, they did come up trumps when my last day's activities were cancelled due to torrential rain. Although check-out time was midday, they allowed me to keep my room until it was time to leave for the airport in the early evening and I kept myself amused on the Internet. All in all, I would recommend it for location and as a clean and relatively comfortable base for exploring the region, and the price was very reasonable, but it didn't win any prizes for atmosphere. by CarlosLuz I usually rent a house in Lagoa, in 'Sesmarias', just 2 kms away from the beach...it's a very calm and it's very nice if you like to go the beach by bike, for example. A beautiful sunset reflects in the pool :-) Theme: OtherComparison: about average

Outstanding staff. A funky maze-like building with numerous additions. The result of this is that there are lots of different size rooms, with different price labels attached. They've got some very basic, tiny rooms (good if you want to save some money) and larger places with private bathrooms and TV. Stayed in a local woman's house. She asked us if we needed somewhere to stay and had an honest face (seriously!) We got a lovely big room with our own balcony and bathroom and there was no curfew. 6,000 escudos for a double room Theme: Pension/GuesthouseComparison: least expensive
