Four Star Accommodation in a Prime Location

This is a 4**** hotel in a prime location, overlooking Faro's marina . Rooms are comfortable though not particularly spacious or luxurious but each room comes with a fairly big balcony. There's a swimming pool on the roof along with several comfortable sitting areas with truly splendid views. A substantial buffet breakfast is served on the fifth floor overlooking the port and the Rio Formosa. Downstairs, there's a health club, gym, Turkish bath and Spa. There's also a bar and internet access in the lobby. The decor in the lobby is outstanding and over all, the hotel gives an impression of quiet sophistication. I did not find the staff particularly friendly and absolutely no information about Faro was available at reception. I would stay here again for the convenience of location, great breakfast and lovely views but I would book a twin rather than double room. The double beds ( at least in the standard rooms ) were definitely a bit on the small side, though extremely comfortable otherwise.

Unique Quality: The most outstanding feature of this hotel is it's prime location right in the centre of Faro. Everything, including bus and train station is on your doorstep and the views over the port and lagoon are quite spectacular.

4* hotel by the marina

I stayed at the 4* Hotel Eva for one night in late January 2007.

At this time of year, a twin room (with breakfast) cost us just 40GBP a night.

Along with nearby Hotel Faro, this is one of two 4* hotels located next to Faro's marina. Having passed the Hotel Faro on numerous occasions during our weekend in the city, I feel that we made the right choice in opting for the Eva. Although I didn't go inside the Hotel Faro, I felt that it had a less favourable location, set back from the marina with no balconies overlooking it. The two hotels were quoting a similar room rate at the time of our visit.

Location

Hotel Eva is located right next to the marina in the centre of Faro. Many of the rooms (including the one that we stayed in) have balconies that offer excellent views. Due to the few guests at this time of year, I suspect that all visitors in the off-season enjoy a room with a view over the marina. In the busier summer months, you may end up in a room at the back of the hotel with a less favourable view over the adjacent bus station.

From the hotel, the old town part of Faro is a 5 minute walk away at the opposite end of the marina, while the more modern part of town (with dozens of restaurants, shops and small bars) is a similar distance away inland.

The hotel can be reached from Faro airport by taxi in 10 minutes (cost: 8 Euros at January 2007).

Unique Quality: .

Hotel Facilities

The friendly reception staff speak perfect English and the checking in process was very efficient. Officially, you can only check in after 2pm, but in the off-season we were allowed to check straight in at 10:30am without any problems.

The hotel has 148 rooms, including singles, doubles, twins and suites, situated on five floors, with the top floor of the hotel given over to a restaurant.

Guests have free use of the hotel's health club (including a fully equipped gym, a sauna and a Turkish bath), although we didn't use them during our brief stay.

There is an excellent, cosy bar on the ground floor of the hotel. You can relax in a comfy armchair, watching live football on the large screen TV while sipping cold Superbock beer (2.50 Euros per 500ml).

Parking is available directly outside the hotel for an additional charge.

Bedrooms

Our twin room had two beds, satellite TV, air conditioning/heating, a large wardrobe, a dressing table, a couple of armchairs, a couple of plastic chairs for use on the balcony and a spotlessly clean bathroom.

There were various leaflets, guidebooks and directories on the bedside cabinets for our information.

The room was clean and fairly spacious, with lots of natural light. If you have the opportunity, ask for one of the rooms with a balcony overlooking the marina - the views are excellent!

A good value hotel with an unbeatable central location. Arguably the most luxurious hotel in the centre of Faro, but still very affordable - especially in the off-season. Highly recommended!

More about Eva Hotel

Faro's best choice

by SonOfLusus about Hotel Eva

Overlooking the marina and the old town center, Faro's Hotel Eva is the best choice in the Algarve's main city. Great views to the marina and old town center (not every room has the views as some face the avenue behind the hotel), plus a rooftop pool!

A lot of attention received in Eva hotel

by TripAdvisor Member keejah

I stayed in Eva for a week in October, 2007. I was in Faro for work, so I spent most of my day in the office, but I must say my days in the office went much better also due to a great accomodation in Eva. When I got to the hotel, first they couldn't find the reservation, but after a call to my contact in Faro, I got the keycard right away. I was given a room on second floor with the view on the marina. Great view from the balcony I occupied every evening just to watch the world go by. The room was neat and clean, with combined air conditioning so I was not cold, a big double bed, satelite TV, in room telephone with direct external line, Wi-fi internet (you pay for a code at the reception), the bathroom was also nice with shower over tub and a glass door. The room was cleaned every day and the maid always left a card with her name and few chocolates on my bed. The bathroom also never missed a daily additional soap or clean glass.
The hotel restaurant was also a positive experience. The view - astonishing! You can have your breakfast while watching the thousands different birds flying over the lagoon! Breakfast also very rich - different types of bread, yoghurt, fruit, scrambled eggs, cheese, ham, different types of pastes, sausages... you can really have a FULL breakfast at Eva. I used to have my after-breakfast tea on the terrase just next to the entrance to the restaurant - breathing fresh early-morning air. Also at dinner noody left disappointed!
Eva also has a great gym and spa center on the ground floor.
As a whole, Eva offers clean, well-equipped and serviced rooms, but its best spot is definitely the restaurant with its terrase.

Spent a very lazy hour or so outside the Hotel Eva in Faro. This is regarded as the best hotel in town by the Rough Guide and overlooks a superb marina. We didn't see a room there but the foyer alone is nice enough and indicates the quality of the place. Apparently there is a pool on the roof

Great hotel! Very nice!

by TripAdvisor Member Palmettocat

Hotel Eva is probably the top hotel in Faro. It's right by the marina and close to the city center which is great for restaurants, shopping, etc. It's just a 5 minute walk to the old walled city of Faro, too. There's a nice rooftop pool and outside seating at the restaurant. A swanky little hotel bar, too. The rooms are small, but well-done. The bathrooms are top-notch with marble. Great channel selection on the tv, too. Business travelers will appreciate the Internet access downstairs (for a fee). Big breakfasts, too. Highly recommend Eva.

Great location - Great hotel - could be more romantic

by TripAdvisor Member Chiswick_on_tour

Excellent hotel with above average bright and spacious rooms and spotless marble-covered bathrooms.

Lunch area has an amazing vista over the marina and nearby lagoon which makes for a very pleasing breakfast. Rooftop swimming pool is nice although a bit windy.

Hotel may lack a bit of charm with its long cold corridors, numerous business-meeting rooms and lacklustre reception area. But I would definitly recommend it.

In need of refurbishment

by TripAdvisor Member Ropley

Stayed for one night in the Eva after being overbooked by British Airways. This is probably what the hotel does best to provide for such occasions. Rooms and particularly bathrooms looking tired and in need of refurbisment.
Breakfast more than adequate, but just what the one member of staff was doing was beyond me. Not the most welcoming, but food caters for most needs.
The dinner however was nothing spectacular & is not internationally renown as they claim. Ok it fills a gap, but there are better alternatives for meals elsewhere for the same money.
Amateur staff spilt the wine and placed another folded tablecloth on top instead of replacing the original. In short, if your stuck in Faro the hotel is adequate with a good location, if you expect something a little more, look elsewhere!

Return Visit

by TripAdvisor Member ChesterfieldUk

This is our second visit to this hotel in four years. We didn't think that it could have got any better but it has.
The reception and bar areas have received a revamp with excellent service by all members of staff even down to the bell hop.
Although we asked for rooms overlooking the marina we were allocated rooms on the street side which some people find very noisy but we never heard anything from the street outside. The rooms were spotlessly clean with clean towels everyday.
The breakfast is served on the 5th floor in the restaurant which has picture windows overlooking the Ria Formosa, the food was of very good quality with a wide selection ranging from scrambled eggs to fresh fruit, if anybody comes out of breakfast hungry then there is something wrong.
I would have no trouble in recomending this hotel to anybody whether it was for, like us, a short break or for alonger spell.
Once again this hotel gives great value for money.

Eva stay satisfactory

by TripAdvisor Member RayBrussels

Nice experience with kids after we moved higher up from a family room (suite) on the second floor just above the smoking floor, which had a bad odor. Good location by the docks. Marina view worth it - other side is a busy bus-filled avenue. Some free hassle free hotel parking if you can snag a spot. Friendly staff if inconsistent with advice, attitude and service. Breakfast works well with ample choices. Nice and long b/fast hours prob due to all the airline staff who stay there. Coffee was not bad at all! Plus nice fresh fruit galore....
