11 euro's for stay + breakfast
rooms are devided, for girls and boys seperatly
not in the center, but a 8 minutes walk and you're there!
one of the girls at the reception is really nice, worked at the airport tourist bureau, and can give you a lot of tips, help
Close to the center, cheap (breakfast included!) and clean. I would recommend it.
However, contrary to what hostel's web page says - it has no internet access and lockers are available only if you haven't forgot to bring your own lock.
I arrived in Faro without having booked any accomodation in advance. So I went to the tourist information and asked for a room within my budget. They recommended Pensao Adelaide which is a very inexpensive 4 star guesthouse run by an old-ish lady and her son.
All rooms are equipped with private bathroom, air-conditioning, TV and refrigerator.
The price for a single room which was actually a double room was 25 Euro (2006) and included a basic breakfast in the adjacent bar.
Clean, relatively quiet, cheap dorms in low season (5E), free Internet at municipal library around the corner.
Lockout in afternoon, no kitchen or atmosphere, efficient but rather cold young female receptionist .
Up the hill in the old part of Albuferia stands the Dianamar. It is owned by a Swedish couple Eva and Mats. We stayed there in July/August and were more than happy. We had a twin room that housed a dressing table, double wardrobe, bedside table and a small balcony overlooking the roof tops of the town towards the sea. We could have had breakfast (continental) if we wanted for 4euros a day (all you could eat) They provide packed lunch for a small sum. They have all sorts of beach toys etc that you can borrow when ever. You can order snacks and drinks anytime before 10.pm. All the staff are lovely people and nothing was too much trouble for them. We will be back. All in all a very quiet small hotel within reach of busier places
Fantastic Views. Roof top terrace. 5 mins walk to beach and 10 mins to town centre but very, very quiet.
The Youth Hostel in Faro was clean and seemed pretty safe; the staff was definetely the friendliest.
The hostel is right next door to a cultural center and nearby shops. but kind of far from the bus/train stations.
Stayed in a local woman's house. She asked us if we needed somewhere to stay and had an honest face (seriously!) We got a lovely big room with our own balcony and bathroom and there was no curfew.
6,000 escudos for a double room
I usually rent a house in Lagoa, in 'Sesmarias', just 2 kms away from the beach...it's a very calm and it's very nice if you like to go the beach by bike, for example.
A beautiful sunset reflects in the pool :-)
Between 2000 and 4000 escudos
Outstanding staff. A funky maze-like building with numerous additions. The result of this is that there are lots of different size rooms, with different price labels attached. They've got some very basic, tiny rooms (good if you want to save some money) and larger places with private bathrooms and TV.
Hotel Appartments Cristal Carvoeiro
120 rooms all equipped,
airco, direct dial phone, safe, satellite TV, radio minibar, bathroom, kitchenette, terrace or balcony.
Outdoor swimming pool, tennis club, health club.
Very nice seaview.
It's a 4* hotel. The best thing about it is that they have so much facilities like a health club, entertainment and the best is their pub called; The 'Dog&Duck pub'. Every night they have live entertainment and the ambiance is great!
The first time I went to the Algarve it was with a college trip and we stayed in apartemts in a little place calles Praia da Oura, just outside Albufeira.
I regret to tell you that I can't remember the name of the apartment building. Hwever, there are many of these apartments everywhere in the Algarve and to me most of them look alike.
In Praia da Rocha there is one hotel/apartments building which I suggest never going to. But, stupid me, I forgot the name of that one also! (Shame on me, I'm having a real hard time remembering right now..)
The reason why I forgot the name of this hotel is because I only remember it by the 'nick'name is was given: Alcatraz.
You'll recognize it when you get there. It's a really huge building in white and blue and it's about the first thing you see when entering Praia da Rocha, because it's blocking the rest of the view.
Don't book a stay in this hotel; it really is like a jail or a factory.
During the last 2 visits I've stayed with friends so I have no further experiences with accommodation in the Algarve.
I cannot give a price for one night, as I took a 'Package Holiday'
Some rooms have a sea view.
There is an outdoor pool.
Quiet atmosphere, little nightlife apart from the bar, but that's how I like it. The hotel food is quite good; breakfast typically cereals, cooked meats, scrambled egg, toast, jam (jelly to you Americans!), choice of tea or coffee. Self service.
Dinners are good with a choice of fare; some nights are waiter service and some self service.
