Clube Praia de Oura: Nice Accommodation shame about the entertainment
My friend and I stayed here week 15th - 22nd October 2011 in a one bed apartment which faced on to the bowling green (in distance) and sea to our left. Lovely view and would be happy to stay in this apartment again (549). Our balcony was one of the few to be part covered which meant that it did not get too hot.
The room was spotlessly clean, as with all the kitchen utensils. if you had wanted to feed yourselves there was everything you would need. Small oven, two rings, and pots, pans, fridge/freezer, cutlery cooking utensils.
There is however no air con, which could be a problem, particularly at night, as there is no way to get a through draught into the apartment.
FOOD in the complex - we found the waiters rude and surly and the food quite passable - after two attempts we went local which was far better, quite reasonable, and food served with a smile, laugh and generally a voucher for 20% off if we ate again.
ENTERTAINMENT - dire - frankly an early night with a good book was more appealing! Not everyone wants to play bingo until 10.30 p.m.
BEACH - very good, very clean, good to swim and just soak up the sun!
COMPLEX GROUNDS - these were absolutely spotless, as indeed was the apartment. All the groundsmen and cleaners deserve a big thank you - it cant be easy particularly in the height of the season.
It is a hilly area, but you can get out into "The Strip" (main shopping/restaurant area) by going into the sister complex (Oura View Beach club) and going up in the lift to top and then exiting via car park. You cannot return this way, but as it is down hill on the way back not such a problem!
I think this is an excellent base for exploring more of the Algarve providing you avoid the nightlife on the complex and their restaurants.
