Go for a walk along the cliffs.
by Walopkov
Go south of Lagos (near the Bombeiros, fire department) up to Praia do Pinao. From the follow the cliff paths along the Dona Ana beach, Camillo beach, and Ponta de Piedade. Their you might have a drink at Bar Sol Nacente (Bar of the rising sun). Then follow the path in the north west direction to Porto de Mos. At times this might be steep. Use good shoes and only take this last part if you are in a good phisical condiotion.
The rewards are high. Spectaculair views. One of the tbest hat you can imagine!
Bom Dia

I went out on the Bom Dia for a family fishing trip for 3 hours, had a great time. The crew were very welcoming and knew their fishing. Caught loads of fish including octopus? I never knew you could catch them on rod and line.
A good afternoon was had by all; I can highly recommend a trip out with them they really did look after us...
And what makes that difference is they love their fishing too. Go you won't be disappointed.
2008 back from another trip to Lagos, done a spot of fishing again on Bom Dia,this time I took a video of the event and once again was well looked after.
For Information you now need a Fishing License for sea Fishing in Portugal, these are supplied by the companies doing the fishing trips.
The first slave market in Europe.
by cachaseiro
When Portugal started to explore the coast of Africa they first imported a few africans as they wanted tö educate them as translators and then take them back to further explorations of the african continent.
They were very short of labour at that time though as many young men were out colonising the world and they soon turned many of the africasn in to slaves and the first place in Europe where slaves were traded was in Lagos where you still have the market building standing as a reminder of this sad part of portugese history.
It´s a rather small building that is sometimes used for exhebitions of local art, but most of the times it is standing empty, but it´s worth checking out simply because of the history it carries.
Fortaleza da Ponta da Bandeira
by Willettsworld
This small military fortress, located at end of the promenade was built between 1680 and 1690 to defend Lagos from attack by enemy boats entering the bay, protecting the wealth and property of its citizens. The fort constitutes one of the best and well preserved examples of this type of military installation and features a moat, turrets and a small chapel. Today the fort is used for exhibitions and other cultural activities and you get some magnificent views of Lagos bay from the battlements.
