Best apartments I ever been. Spent 9 wonderful days at Vilabranca. Already booked another week for next September.
Vilabranca in Lagos is the perfect place for a relaxing holiday.
My Wife, Son (20) and I stayed at Vilabranca September 2006. We had a 2 bedroomed apartment and it was very clean and comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful.
Vilabranca is a credit to its staff and management.
The weather during this time was warm and sunny. Lagos is a gem with lots of bars and cafe's that you can sit out at. We found some excellent restaurants in the town.

Just returned from a weeks holiday in Lagos, staying in Vilabranca Apartments.
As a party of three adults we asked for a two bedroomed apartment and were not disappointed. It was also pleasing to get en-suite facilities in one of the bedrooms. Also requested and got an apartment overlooking the pool. Apartment facilities very good and no problems in getting sun beds at the poolside. No need to lay towels down early !!!
Reception staff most helpful, as were the bar and housekeeping staff.
The centre of Lagos is a good 20 minute stroll from Vilabranca Apartments, but if not in walking mode, there is a good in-house bus service and taxis are very reasonably priced. Plenty of places to eat and drink in Lagos and also at reasonable prices.
Overall, Vilabranca Apartments is a very good place to stay for a quiet holiday (at least in October) and Lagos has all that is needed for those looking for good food, wine and rest !!!
Would have no hesitation in going back to Vilabranca Apartments and Lagos.
My husband and I started our month-long honeymoon (Spain and Portugal) at the Vilabranca. Originally we booked the apartment for 4 nights and ended up adding another night.
As the other reviews have said, the place is very clean and BIG! We were most impressed with the staff, specifically Danielle at the reception - she went out of her way to assist us with our vacation (including hellping us research airlines!).
Having 2 small and 1 large gocery stores is fantastic as the apartment kitchens are equipped with everything you need to cook a great meal.
The location is perfect - right between the town centre and the Porto do Mos beach.
Throughout our travels we stayed in numerous hotels and the Vilabranca was by far our favourite.
Stayed the last week in September 2006. All previous reviews greatly assisted and we were not dissapointed with the location or the apartments.
The walk to the town centre is a nice 15 / 20 minutes stroll and the town itself is interesting with many, many fine eateries. We tried Mullens (not for the faint hearted and one of our most memorable nights!), the Vilabranca restaurant, No Patio, Don Tordo, Reis and A Vaca in Lagos, Por de Sol and Adega d'Alvor in Alvor. All were very good, prices varied but most were very reasonable - the complex itself being, by far, the dearest. Some lovely wines Joao Pires and Casa de Santar being very reasonably priced whites (under 6 Euros in supermarkets) and Alvor and Joao Pires in red.
Definitely Vilabranca was a find - car advised if you want to travel anywhere. We picked an Opel Astra TDi estate up for 250 Euros for 5 days and found it made all the difference.
In short, lovely apartment, very nice staff, good amemities, supermarket and minimarket within 3 minutes walk, ATM nearby. Lagos is an interesting town with many fine eateries, churches, museum and it's old wall - well worth a visit.
Spent our honeymoon at Vilabranca in August and it was two great weeks.
We had two very different travellers - myself, on my first holiday abroad, and my new wife, who has travlled all over. However, we both loved this resort and the apartments. The apartments were always clean (cleaned 5 days out of 7), and the apartment area, bar and pool areas were always as spotless as they were gorgeous, and provided a beautiful setting. The staff go out of their way to be helpful, and i must give special mention to the two barmen (Fabio and Joao) who seemed to be on-hand from dusk, 7 days a week til down for your every need. The room has everyting you could need, and the pool area is always busy but never invasively so.
Convenience wise, it is a 10-minute walk into town (though back is uphill, so after a few days you'll soon be getting a taxi back) and has 2 supermarkets right on its doorstep.
The only thing i would say is if taking childen, there are some nights a lack of on-site entertainment for them but those we saw had qquickly bonded with the other families and were happy enough! Having to venture off-site at nights is fine for couples and older families, but i can imagine bearing a bit wearing for the younger children.
Lagos itself is a gorgeous town with so many places to explore. From the old (the fort, the town) to the new (the gorgeous Marina). We ate at a different restraunt every night, and never had a bad meal - the Portugese Steak is to die for! The clubs and bars are full of friendly staff and customers - locals and visitors. Zanzibar and Tex Mex in particular spring to mind, the former open until 4am and full of the exotic cocktails you MUST sample in these resorts. THe beaches are also plentiful, beautiful and varied - from the small to those that go on for miles and miles.
Hire a car and you are less than an hour from anywhere in the Algarve - the waterparks, zoomarine (the 4D show is amazing), Lagos Zoo, the sand sculptures and Sagres being just some of the places we visited. I would certainly recomend it if more than one week in Lagos.
I would thoroughly recomend the apartments and resort and i have promised myself a return to Vilabranca sooner rather than later.
Just had a week at these apartments, could not believe the size of the apartments with everything you need inside. Pools very clean and lots of sunbeds. Location very quiet as in a residential area so slept like babies. Excellent beaches about 10/15 mins away,so clean with good value beach cafe's. Lagos itself is great, lots of really good restaurants and bars but not alot of entertainment if thats what u want. Very oldy worldy, cobbled streets and uphill walking. People also very friendly and not pushing you to use their establishments etc. All in all a very good relaxing place to go.
2nd visit. Apartments are excellent for space but a little dirty.
The pool areas are great and large and thelocation is very good.
Couple of minor problems. When trying to relax in the afternoons the maid service seemed to enjoy shouting amazingly loudly across appartments to each other all the time. THe bar staff also seemed unhappy and came across rude.
The mini bus service is also insufficient as it was full twice with no alternative down to town which is probably a couple of miles.
Just returned from our second visit to the Villabrancaand all we can say it is still as good as ever.It is 3 years since we have been there and the staff still knew our faces
The bar snacks are possibly on the expensive side but when you are around the pool from 9 in the morning til 6 at night you dont mind paying that little extra
The apartments are clean and tidy and have every thing you need for a selfcaterig holiday if you wish - but Lagos has such a wide choice of restaurants it is a shame not to try them
we arrived back last night and are already planning our next trip
What can you say, superb apartments, clean tidy and MASSIVE.
Bit of a trek into town with 2 kids under 6, but we all enjoyed our stay. A bus runs to the beach and town centre 3 times a day.
Has a good snack bar on site.
Lagos is a nice town with plenty of good eateries, and you are made to feel welcome everywhere.
