hi was looking to go to this apartment in lagos www.ownersdirect.co.uk/portugal/P3707.htm
i think apartments and address are
Apartmento Edificio Sol Lote 17, Apartment A, Block B, 1st floor, Meia Praia,Lagos
has anyone been here before or know what there like and what is lagos like heard its not a busy as say alberfuria(which ive been to before and liked and found it very reasonable in price for things out there) does this mean its more expensive?any info would be great cheers
Meia Praia is not in Lagos itself, it's about a ten minute bus ride away. Massive beach, wide and sandy but getting a bit over-developed ie more hotels and more golf courses.
As I said elsewhere, you won't find Lagos much different to Albufeira in terms of prices.
I am not familiar with this property but Owners Direct is a site I and other members of my family have used with complete satisfaction.
Surprised you have an actual address - I have never seen one posted on the site - contact is usually made via email or telephone in the first instance.
thanks would you say alberfuria or lagos is busier?got a 22 month old baby and was wondering if there was a lot to do there been looking at prai da luz to which one of these would you recommened?
Albufeira is the biggest and busiest resort in the Algarve. At peak summer times (July and August) it is reckoned we have 80,000 tourists (plus the 20,000 residents) at any one time, so it is pretty packed. There certainly isn't much room on the beaches or in the restaurants.
Hi, I am planning to spend 6 days during August in the Algarve, we are looking for sun, and the sea. I would like to move around by car and discover different places, however I would like to stay in one place and do excursions from there or in 2 different places (2-3 nights each) but no more.
1) Where can I stay?
2) Which places would you recomend me to see?
3) Any hotels, hostels or b&b to recommend?
Thanks a lot for your help!!
Hi!
Firstly, be aware that August is ultimate high season here in the Algarve.
Most of the beaches will be full and if last year was anything to go by much of the reasonably priced accomodation witl be heavily occupied.
There are essentially two areas you should try:
1) Around Tavira in the Eastern where there are some good beaches .
2) Around and to the West of Lagos in the Western Algarve.
In Lagos we have Meia Praia, a beach with 4 kms of golden sand. Lagos itself is great having culture, history and a great nightlife.
West of Lagos, you can consider the following places and beaches:
Burgau,
Salema, (Lovely fishing village)
Praia da Ingrina (Turn left at Raposeira)
Sagres - several lovely small beaches
Praia Amado - Beach (via Vila de Bispo)
Carrapateira (On the Vila de Bispo Road)
Be aware that the Algarve is not big and with the dorsal A22 motorway running the length of the region you really can be anywhere in the Algarve in under 2 hours.
As regards accomodation you may find ti difficult to arrange a place for less than 7 nights as in high season most self-catering is renting out on this basis. B&B's etc will also be full.
Have a look at my blog

and the links on the top right panel headed:

I know all these operators and am sure that on of them will able to assist you.
For these, fell free to quote my blog if you think it will help.
Also have a look at:

This has also been taken over recently by a company I know.
They all offer accomodation between Meia Praia, Lagos and Sagres and may be able to help.
Hope this helps!
Woooooooow!! Thanks a lot!!! Very helpful!!!
In addition check out Saleema-a smaller village not too crowded
Great beaches between Portimao and AMercao de Pera
