Lagos to Seville

by Supers1984

Hi there! I am travelling to Lisbon in August and am going to then travel to Lagos. Is it best for me to travel from Lisbon to Faro and then to Lagos or can I go straight to Lagos from Lisbon? Also, I am then travelling to Seville, Spain, does anyone have any info on buses from Lagos to Seville? Prices, times etc. Thanks!!

Hi!

It's best if you go directly from Lisboa to Lagos. You see, Lagos in in the western part of Algarve, while Faro is on the eastern part. As for transportation, you can goby train or bus, there is plenty of choices...
From Lagos to Sevilha, there are 2 buses a day, on weekdays.

For more information, check:
Bus: www.eva-bus.net (both Lisboa-Lagos and Lagos-Sevilha)
Train: www.cp.pt
Both sites have english version.

Hope it helps,
Greetings,
Helio

Hello,
You will get a bus from Lisbon to Lagos, not sure of prices times etc but both the bus service and train service from Lagos are excellent and very reasonable.
I am fairly sure there is a bus direct from Lagos to Seville or you can get the train to Portimau and change but it is quite easy to get around.
If you have not been to Lagos before, try to allow some time to explore as it is a superb place.
Good Luck

Thanks for your help! Is it easy to find a cheap hostel there in mid August or should I book in advance? Do you know the prices in Lagos for food and drink and any good hostels? Thanks!

Hello,

Re your question regarding hostels--sorry can't help with this as I am a pensioner but regarding food, you can get traditional Portuguese food with dish of the day for around €4.75 at Adega de Marina which as the name implies is on the main Avenida opposite the marina or if you want a lunch with wine and coffee we usually pay less than €20 for two of us. Would suggest you book your accommodation in advance as August does get very busy but would also advise you to deal direct with Portuguese if possible. Can put you in touch for apartments but not hostels.

the beaches and the grutas

by Faracy

There are many beaches in Lagos, but some are more spectacular than others.
The first time in Lagos we only went to Lagoa beach, which is pretty cold and just a long expance of sand.
The second time we went to Donha Ana, and many of the smaller beaches around there.
This is also where the grutas are.
I´ve read in some travel books that Donha Ana and Batata are very polluted.. hmm, they were still very popular, and there were no markings of this. I didn´t get sick afterwards, or develop a rash.

The Grottos 2 (Desciptions)

by kevin36

If this is your first visit to Lagos, you simply must take a "grotto tour". Step into a small fishing boat, let your local fisherman be your guide, and witness from the water, the distinctive and magnificent cliffs that surround the Lagos area. It is truly a sight unseen! Your guide will navigate around and under the intriguing rock formations, take you into caves and point out the many secluded beaches that surround the town.

You can take the grotto tour by signing-up with one of the vendors along marble sidewalk in front of town. Alternatively, catch a boat at Praia Dona Ana or at Ponte da Piedad. This tour offers a little variety to your beach day. The fisherman bring the boats right to the beach, and you can generally get a good rate here
Approximately €10 to €20 per person, based on your starting point

Lagos: pearl of the western Algarve

by RMW

Lagos has managed to preserve its friendly character and its relaxed atmosphere. No high flats, like the Spanish costas or like parts of the east Algarve. Lagos combines typical little streets with mosaic pavements, historical buildings, restaurants, boutiques, pleasant population, unique and clean beaches with a subtropical climate and all modern supplies (marina, watersport facilities, 24 hour a day medical care) you can imagine. The golfcourses `Boavista` and `Palmares` are awaiting you.

In every season you can spend your ideal holiday here!
