Tourist Information Office
The useful tourist information office is located in the middle of town on the road that leads to the bus station. Here they dish out leaflets, booklets and maps.

I am looking at renting a villa in 2008 (already!!). The wife has spotted a real great looking villa with superb facilities and big pool - the owner has made it clear that the end of the garden is only 250m from the train line. I am guessing there is only one train line and it goes far West as Faro and East to.....??
My question is does anyone have a great website where I can work out how many times the train goes through OR lives nearby and can hazard a good guess?
Thanks for your help
Steve

You will there find links to download in pdf:
# Portuguese Railways - Summer 2007 - Algarve Regional Line Timetable
# Portuguese Railways - Summer 2007 - Lisbon - Algarve Faro/Lagos Timetable
Bear in mind these are Summer 2007 timetables. I suspect that Summer 2008 will be similiar although there may be some increased frequency on Intercity trains as they have been v. popular this year.
You should also be aware that there is a freight depot at Loulé and the terminus Vila Real Stª. Antonio. Therefore there are freight trains operating on the line as well. These will of course not show on the timetable.
Thats a great website - thanks for your help. From your information I reckon 20 minimum and 50 maximum. Enough to put us off!!!
Thanks again - great work
Steev
Be pessimistic. There are at least 15 trains daily. And I mean AT LEAST. There is the line connecting both ends of Algarve, and then the trains coming from Lisbon to Faro. Now, add the cargo trains.

This is a cute little town, about 20 minutes west of Faro. It isn´t on the coast, but I´ve heard they have an impressive craft market Sunday mornings. I happened to be driving through this area as the sun was setting on the longest day of the year. I was passing through because just down the road is Eddie´s Bar, the Iron Maiden tribute bar... something my husband has waited years to go to.
