Travel Tips for Monchique

Portuguese people

by TinKan

You will see many old ladies chatting around the town as many of the young yearn for the big city and leave the sleepy little town as soon as they are old enough to go. One of the things I had noticed around Portugal is that many of the doors on the older buildings are huge which is funny as many of the Portuguese people are short.
Always great the people with a smile and they will always return a smile back to you.

Monchique - Portugal

by TinKan

Monchique was once a Roman settlement located in the hills overlooking the Algarve. The settlement was based around a natural hot springs and sulfur springs. The Romans, as the locals do today, would go to the springs and baths for relaxation and for the therapeutic properties of the sulfur baths.

You can still see the Roman ruins here as well as some of the baths that are still in use today.
