"Not really our kind of place"
We spent 5 days at Praya da Rocha, near Portimao. We had no idea what it would be like as the sole purpose of our trip was to hook up with a friend from Essaouira and to avoid Ramadan.
Our first introduction was not good, we parked up to find a hotel and got the car clamped and was not too happy to pay a 90Euro fine, There were parking signs but only in Portuguese did it say" loading only".
The beach and cliffs were delightful, The restaurants where we ate were very good and not expensive. Almost all the restaurants and bars have Large Satellite TVs, that are on 24/7. My guess is that they make the customers feel at home ! that is if you are a fan of Soaps, Football, Rugby & Cricket.
Pray da Rocha is a package holiday destination, most people speak English, Spanish and German. As it was early October the place was quite relaxed but I guess in the height of summer it gets packed.
