Hotel Porta Nova, Tavira, Portugal - Reviews and Hotel Information

The hotel porta nova is in a great location in Tavira, really central but slightly elavated so you get great views of the town all the way to the beach. Its also on the same side of the river as some of the good restaurants and bars (over the bridge from the main square). The hotel is spotless, the pool is huge and generally uncrowded and the rooftop has spectacular views even if it is pricier than most bars in town its worth going for one to chill out. The rooms are big and modern with good bathrooms and a good size balcony although we did have to share ours with some swallows and the mess they create. The only problem is the noise from other rooms as everything is marble and the doors have to be banged to shut them properly. The staff were professional and friendly and knowledgable and breakfast was adequate but the choice could be better for such a hotel class. There is a brilliant little bakery/cafe (looks like apartments at first glance) near to the hotel who do all there baking on the premises and you see all the locals going in daily for their bread, i'd recommend a daily visit here for good coffee and the famous pastell de nata!
be careful on the short walk into town though as there are a few blind bends and no pavements
