We loved the place that we stayed at. Had two bedrooms and a deck that was great for morning breakfast. Met someone at the train station who guided us to this house in which, even though they spoke no English, still were sooooo nice!
Best visit the area in the autumn or winter.
I like avoiding the summer crowd , besides everything is cheaper and you get the best rooms , best seats , etc without having to book or fight for them!
I have spent a few winters there.
It is a simple, basic hotel with lots of rooms. It is ideally located overlooking river Gilao and close to the centre. Do not expect any amenities. Friendly staff.
Stayed in a local woman's house. She asked us if we needed somewhere to stay and had an honest face (seriously!) We got a lovely big room with our own balcony and bathroom and there was no curfew.
6,000 escudos for a double room
