Transport from Faro

by Toshioohsako

Anyone has recent information for transport (taxi, minibus, etc) to go from Faro airport to Tavira?

Re: Transport from Faro

by Piratinha

Hello.

From Faro airport to Tavira, must take a bus or taxi to Faro (Train Station or Bus Central.
Then is better, faster and more cheaper to catch a train to Tavira.
Normally the taxi from the airport to the city is about 10 Euros.

Tosh - the best web site for information about the public transport = bus or train - along the Algarve is ;
www.algarvebus.info
it is about 40 kms between airport and Tavira so expect to pay at least Euros 40 for an airport taxi.

Getting to Tavira by bus and train is fairly painless and very cheap, but there might be some waiting involved. If time is of the essence or your hotel is out of town, then there are plenty of licensed transfer companies. A taxi from the airport direct is the most expensive option as mentioned above.

I don't know the transfer companies operating airport to Tavira I am sorry to day.

Thanks to Puerto Lover for mentioning my website!

Travel Tips for Tavira

Unspoiled and imperfect beauty of Tavira

by Toshioohsako

I like this a little bit rusty and old city of Tavira. The white buildings all around the town hit your eyes so impressively and the images you have created about the "white" town never leave your mind. The life here is slow, simple and human relations are intimate and active. The uncomplicated fish dish (cod, sword fish, squid, etc) are delicious as they are not overly cooked by "sauce" loving cooks - its a natural salty taste! You get thirsty though, sometimes all over the night.

This is the Towns meeting place and place to relax

Every Town has its meeting place , Tavira has a beautiful area along the river with a nice Pavillon for cultural events, a place to come together and meet friends and family
and of course for visitors to enjoy.

Pego do inferno

by Carmela71

I first saw at another VT member page (quartinb) and got very interested. But if you really want to go, get lots of patience as road signs can be a nightmare.

We follow all the signs until we arrived at the car park (that of course as it was low season was empty) to find that there was no explanation of where to go.

After a while walking without knowing where to go, I saw in the distance a kind of wooden steps on the mountain that has a sing of no entrance only for residences….. and finally we founded this waterfalls.

They were not much spectacular as there was not much water and of course no people bathing in january hehehehe.

I recomend this visit to everyone going to Tavira.

City Museum

by Willettsworld

Housed in a wonderful palace that dates back to the 16th century and which was transformed in the middle of the 18th century, you can admire the baroque stonemasonry of the portal and the upper floor windows of probably one of the most remarkable civil buildings in Tavira. The museum exhibits contemporary art and cultural galleries.

Open: Tuesday to Saturday 10am to 12.30pm, 4pm to 7.30pm, closed Sundays, Mondays and National holidays. Admission: €2.
