Bus Transportation from Aveiro to Fatima
by joshua00
Greetings,
I would like to know if there is a bus/coach that will take me from Aveiro to Fatima on a Monday morning. I thought about taking the train but have heard that the train station is not as close to Fatima as the bus station. Any suggestion or help would be appreciated.

Correct - the train station called Fatima is ten miles from town.
There are only two Rede-Expressos buses in the mornings
Aveiro leave 0715 arrive Fatima at 0910, change of bus needed in Coimbra
Aveiro leave 0730 arrive Fatima at 1055, change of bus also in Coimbra.
The next bus is not until 1415hrs.
One way fare is €12,30
There is a much more frequent bus service from Porto to Fatima, so it may be worth considering taking the train from Aveiro to Porto and the bus from there.
More information, ticket sales etc at www.rede-expressos.pt be aware the website is in Portuguese only.
Hope that helps.

Travel Tips for Aveiro
Walk around town. There is so...
by Kurt_S.
Walk around town. There is so much to see and experience!! And don't forget to visit all those famous sights and enjoy the water in the Baya or go surfing on the Atlantic Ocean! The fantastic cafes and the nice people. Aveiro reflects Portugese lifestyle as it used to be for centuries and as it will be in the future.
Moliceiros
by solopes
The top icon of Aveiro are the traditional boats used to pick algae from the lagoon, called Moliceiros. Now a fading activity, it keeps being the "official" image of a growing industrial area, but is not much than a touristy relic nowadays.
Costa Nova – architecture
by micas_pt
Costa Nova is a fishermen’s village which has typical houses: they are built in wood and they are stripped. They usually are colourful – red, blue, green or yellow – and white, making a vertical or horizontal pattern which sometimes contrasts (in shape) with windows, doors and balconies. If visiting Costa Nova or Aveiro don’t miss the chance of strolling in the village as some houses are lovely, mainly during Spring and Summer when flowers on the balconies blossom, making these houses even brighter.
Costa Nova is situated about 11km from Aveiro.
Open-Top Buses
by global84
Operated by Rota da Luz, the regional tourism board, the open-top bus tour of Aveiro takes about 45~60 minutes. The tickets (5 euros) may be purchased at the tourism office and must be presented to the bus driver on board. It passes the various notable places of Aveiro, such as Canal de São Roque, Universidade de Aveiro, Rossio, Igreja de São Domingos, and Estação de Aveiro. It is a great way of taking a glance of this unique city. But one thing: Don't complain that the bus passes by salt pans for the first several minutes, because remember, salt has been the major source of life for Aveiro citizens historically!
The buses run hourly during the day, every half hour.
Sé - Cathedral
by micas_pt
Near the main channel (within walking distance), you may find the Sé of Aveiro (Church of São Domingos). This 15th century church is an ancient Dominican monastery. It may be visited free of charge, as long as there are no religious services going on.
