Bom Jesus - funicular by micas_pt
For all those who can't climb the stairs, or are just lazy, there is a funicular that goes up and down along the stairs.This funicular is moved by water and was built in 1882. This is an important piece for portuguese transportation history.
The slope is very accentuated - about 31% inclination. They say the funicular takes about 3 minutes to go up (or down) - about 285 metre journey. There are 2 units - one each way and they always move at the same time. As one begins journey down, the other starts coming up.
