Nice architecture!
The city has architecturally interesting buildings or other monuments, like Arco da Porta Nova, which was for decades the main entrance to the city. Local authorities don't allow high buildings to be constructed.

Hello,
Does anyone know the timetable of the buses from Braga to Guimaraes, specially during weekend days?
I can access by Internet only Rodonorte buses, but I know there are other options, which I cannot consult by websites.
Thanks for your attention.

I have a timetable for the Braga - Guimarães local buses which I obtained on a visit last year. I have also never found it on a website.
These buses are operated by a consortium of three companies and I have put the timetable on a webpage at this location:
http://thomasallen.home.sapo.pt/travel/054.htm
This timetable was correct in November 2007. I do not know if it has changed. I suggest you check at the Braga bus station before travel.
You can use the same ticket on any bus of any of the three companies.
I hope that the information is of help to you.
PS ônibus is Brazilian Portuguese. Hereabouts the word is 'autocarro'.
It is preciselly what I needed, thanks!
(autocarros ou "carris", não é isso? Os ônibus cá do Brasil).
Obrigado!

Braga's Sé cathedral is dated back 12th century, making it the oldest in Portugal.
Its amazing inside you should not miss. The cathedral has also a Sacred Art Museum, which contains a big collection of ecclesiastical treasures, rare azulejo glazed tiles and statues.
Started in 1596 and succesivley transformed and adapted, this church was only finished in the 19th century, and, with the extintion of the religious orders in 1834 it became states property, used to install the army. Nowadays it belongs to City Hall.
