Santiago Square by nhcram
In the centre of old Guimaraes is a lovely old square called Largo de Santiago. It has beautiful architecture with a gothic shrine housing a cross in the centre.it is a very ancient square and is mentioned in many old documents. It is named after St John who, accordng to legend, brougth an image of the the virgin Mary to Guimaraes and placed it in a pagan temple that stood here.
