Travel Tips for Castelo Branco

Boom Festival - getting there

by k8007

theres no train station at idanha a nova, you have to get a train/bus to castelo branco and then a bus from there to idanha a nova. You then walk the rest of the way into the nature reserve to reach Boom (yay Boom!)

cant seem to find timetables for the bus service from castelo to idanha however, can anyone help?

My Fault

by solopes

When we travel in Portugal we usually decide to go north or south. Castelo Branco stays... east, which means out of usual routes.
On the way to Spain... yes, its possible, but the alternatives are better!
That's why I noticed that I've been several times in Castelo Branco, going somewhere, but never went "TO" Castelo Branco.
I don't know much about it... OK! That's in the agenda.

Castelo Branco - "White Castle"

by salinhopt

"The city"

Situated in a central position between the North and South of Portugal, Castelo Branco marks a border of two cultural regions since remote distinct times: the world of the granite and the world of the shale. Castelo Branco born in the Bronze age. Around the castle the town was gaining new spaces, extending itself for the hillside east. Today of these times, the streets are conserved street hillside in direction to the castle, with decorated dors, its names remembering old professions (Street of the Peleteiros, the Potters, the Blacksmiths), the small agricultural spaces (still today used), the olival of the south hillside and still all the characteristics of the small world of the street with its smells and sounds.
