So you're wondering what's about Figueira da Foz. The town’s name means "Fig tree of the river’s mouth". The river is the Mondego, born at the Estrela montain, the highest Portuguese mountain (1, 991 m). About the fig tree there isn’t much I can tell you except you won’t find any at the river mouth!
This small town has grown on the Atlantic border, therefore the beach is inevitable. Especially because it’s around 300 m wide!
