"Monumental Castle"

The Castle was reconstructed in the 17th century due to the War of Restoration of Portuguese Independence, in which it played an active part. When our King died the country's government passed to his daughter that was married to the Spanish King. So that's why the country had a gap and was governed by the Spanish King from 1580 to 1640.
