Wanting to get a rede expresso bus from lisbon to peniche. How do I find out how much it costs and how do I find out if I need to make any bus changes on the route? I do not speak portugese. Grateful for any help that anybody can give.
You find the schedule and the fares if you search in "horários e preços"(timetable) for "Lisboa" on the first text box and "Peniche" on the second.
The check-box means if you want a return ticket as well.
Just press "Ok" and there it is.
8.50€ and it´s a one hour and half trip. Please note, some buses doesn´t run on sundays, and others only run on sundays =) There is no bus change during the route.
It´s not an easy website.. but it is accurate and may be helpful if you´re planning to visit some other cities. Have a nice trip and enjoy both Lisbon and Peniche! =)

Also, and nowhere does the official Rede-Expressos site say this, the buses leave from SETE RIOS bus station in Lisbon. This is a large and busy bus station and as you must buy your ticket at the ticket office, make sure you get there 15 -20 minutes before departure time.
The lady at the tourist office was very helpful. Don’t just ask for a map but do as I did and ask what there is to see. That way we were pointed out all the main sights including the rocky coastline, the citadel, the old town wall, the beaches and the place where you enquire about boat trips to Berlenga island.

Most of the visitors don't spend much time with the town itself.
But if you have time, give it some minutes: it´s an old town, surrounded by strong and old walls, with the look and smells of the dominant sea, the life of the harbour, the gardens, and... attention... thousands of seagulls...
On picture no 1 and 2 you may see the little Hermitage Santa Cruz which you will find on Marginal Sul, the main road taking you to the cape.
The Church Senhor do Calvario you will find on a small square by the Rua do Calvario (picture no 3).
The Church of Nossa Senhora da Ajuda can be seen close to the previous one on Rua da Liberdade (picture 4). Next to it on a grassy patch there is a monument (picture 5).
So why not visit. Another fortress and rugged coastline- out to the Cape Carvoeiro.
The sixteenth century fortress/Fortaleza at Peniche was one of the dictator Salazar's most notorious jails expanded to accommodate the growing crowds of political prisoners.
Rugged coastline with crashing blue water around the Cape with its lighthouse and views over to the Island of Behlenga 10 km away offshore.
