Four Star Luxury Apartment Hotel & Resort

We had 7 days at this extremely nice resort before joining a coach tour of Portugal, Morocco and Spain during September, 2008. The rooms were well fitted out and very comfortable, the premises must have been built 30 years ago but have been well maintained.

The business operates as an apartment hotel and we secured our week long stay through a time share exchange. There are many facilities including a gym, childrens play area, internet facilities, the large grounds with a beautiful pool area. The large restaurant operates for breakfast and dinner, whilst the patio restaurant and bar operates during the day. Entertainment is provided each evening in the lounge/bar area.

Within the resort you enjoy the peace and quiet, however 10 minutes walk and you are in the town with its outdoor restaurants , shops etc etc.

Unique Quality: Most people appeared to enjoy the pool sun lounges. For golfers there are several courses nearby and each morning you would see the couriers collecting the golfers.

The Vila Gale Estoril

The Vila Gale Estoril is located near the casino which is supposed to be the larges in Euorpe. They have 126 rooms which have a mini bar, hair dryer, aircon, safe, modem connection and satellite TV. The hotel has a restaurant and 24 hour room service.

The Vila Galé Hotel Village Cascais is located 200 metre from the marina so it enjoys splendid views over the many masts of boats and out to the sea.

There are 233 comfortable rooms with 70 special suites. Each has air-conditioning, mini-bar, satellite TV, safe, satellite TV and 24 hour service. For the convenience of its guests there is one restaurant, and a snack-bar for the pool area for adults and children. In the lounge-bar enjoy a relaxing drink after the bustle of the day.

Facilities include a card room, a snooker room, meeting rooms, newspaper kiosk, private parking, sauna and massage. During the high season an entertainment programme is available for both adults and children.

The complex is approximately 500 metres to the town centre and 30 kilometres from Lisbon Airport. In the area there are several good 18-hole golf courses to challenge even the best of players. Nearby, in Estoril are the famous tennis clay courts club which is a yearly location included in the APT international circuit.

Only downside for us was that a bunch of families were staying there for a local show jumping event, and their kids were incredibly badly behaved, with no attempt at control by the parents.

Unique Quality: Great pool. Close to town centre.
