New, modern, and central...
I stayed two nights at Hotel Dom Carlos Liberty in October 2010. It was a Danish travel agency which recommended the hotel and booked it for me, and I was not disappointed! The hotel was brilliant; it opened in 2004 and everything was very new and modern; nice and clean room (but a little small), clean bathroom, good bed, safety box, mini bar, flat screen TV with many international channels, free Wi-Fi in the room, air con, etc.
The reception staff was extremely friendly and helpful. Down a few stairs from the reception, the Dom Carlos Lounge was located and it was here that breakfast was served in the morning. The breakfast was included in the room price and it was OK; cold and warm dishes, yoghurts, cereals, fruits, and more… During the day, the Lounge was converted into a relaxing area with newspapers, TV, a couple of computers with internet connection (not for free), and coffee, tea, and drinks (also not for free).
The hotel is centrally located in Lisbon, about 5-6 kilometres from the airport, close to Marquês de Pombal metro station, next to Avenida da Liberdade (one of the main avenues in Lisbon), and only a short walk from the Praça do Rossio and the old town of Lisbon.
All in all, it was a great experience and highly recommendable!
