Subtract two stars here

Subtract two stars. There are favorable reviews for this hotel as there are the unfavorable.
I found it to be the latter for two reasons; the staff was unfriendly and
I found the four-star claim to be false. Rooms are spartan, basic and outdated.
The hotel presents itself as a four-star establishment; I found it to be, at most, a two star.
If you get a really cheap room here; fine. Otherwise find someplace else. Nothing special here.
Staff does not seem to have the word 'welcome' integrated into their routine.

Torre de Belém

The Tower of Belém was built in an effort to defend the estuary of the river Tagus(Tejo). King Dom João II had wanted to kick away ships from the river, but it was only his successor Dom Manuel I who ended up building the tower. It was designed by architect and scupltor Francisco Arruda, with notable traces of Moorish influence. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site

Lisbon Hotel Info

by al_mary

Greetings from Massachusetts
United States,

We have narrowed our search for a hotel to stay
in for our visit to Lisbon to the following
hotels, and we need some information and advice
about them.

We would appreciate feed-back on which would be
the best to stay in.

#1 Hotel Dom Manuel I
Avenue Duque D'avila 189
Lisbon

#2 Turim Hotel
Rua Filipe Folque 20
Lisbon

#3 Hotel Jorge V
Rua Mouzinho Da Silveira 3
Lisbon

We would like to know:

#1 Are they nice hotels?
#2 Are they in a nice area?
#3 In or near the "Old City"?
#4 Close to public transportation?

We would appreciate whatever information you
could give us about the above hotels ....

We will be in Lisbon in November for 4 nights,
13th - 17th, and then we are off to the visit
our friends in the Netherlands.

As with all our travels, we would like to meet
up with other VT'ers in the countries we visit.

Check out our "Homepage" for our travels ....
