More about Hotel Ibis Lisboa Jose Malhoa
Within Walking Distance!
by Bwana_Brown about Ibis Lisboa Saldanha
Since this was our first time in Portugal and we were not sure how easy it would be to find a Residencial or Pensao in its downtown area, we played it safe and booked ourselves into a hotel located just outside the main Baixa tourist area. The Hotel Ibis in Saldanha served our needs well with clean and not overly expensive rooms. Just down the street was a small supermarket where we could buy whatever supplies we needed for our 3-days in Lisbon. The hotel is within walking distance of the tourist area but you have to keep your wits about you to find your way back in the darkness through the twisting streets! Each small room has a private bathroom and twin beds. Breakfast for two costs E9 and consists of the usual fruit, yoghurt, cereal, toast, slices of ham and/or cheese with juice and the black Portugese coffee. They have a bar area in the hotel and also the restaurant serves evening meals. After a couple of tiring days, we tried their restaurant with mixed success - the quiche was good but their hake medallions with coriander was very bland!
The staff were always helpful. Rooms were E59 (US$72) per night without breakfast.

I just got back from Lisbon and I stayed in the Best Western Flamingo. It was fairly central and only 55Euros a night - I got that price through Expedia.
I don't know if you'd get that price now - I had booked a few months in advance

As a day trip i would definitely recommend you to visit Sintra, its a beautiful town and there's nice views and castles to see (no, not the English style one..lol see my Sintra page) if you go to the castles on your way back stop at San Pedro village, its really lovely.
All the details in my pages.
Enjoy your trip.

You could spend a day in Obidos. This is a beautiful walled town. It is not big. So you can see it entirely.
2. Cascais. A seaside resort not far from Lisbon.
3. Sintra. This village at fifty minutes from Lisbon has two beautiful palaces to visit. Paco da Vila and Paco da Pena.

Hello
All other "travellers" are right about Visits:
Depending on your stay I also recommend
FD (Full Day) Lisbon
FD or HD (Half Day) Sintra/Estoril Cascais
FD Sesimbra
FD Fátima-Batalha-Óbidos
Try our local gastronomy like "Bacalhau assado = roasted cod-fish, fresh fish, local vines, desserts....
Please email me if you want more precise info

If you go to
http://www.accorhotels.com/gb/hotel-3137-ibis-lisboa-liberdade/index.shtml
and click on 'maps and itineraries' under the 'how to reach the hotel' you will see it gives nearby Metro stations and bus route information.
Take the airport bus into the city, then take the yellow line Metro to Rato or the Blue line to Avenida.

or go to
http://www.ana.pt/portal/page/portal/ANA/AEROPORTO_LISBOA
and click on 'to and from the airport' then 'tranports'.
Carris Aerobus 91 will take you to the city centre, where you can get the Metro onwards to your hotel (or take a taxi if you prefer to avoid the Metro with luggage).

Take the aerobus, there's a stop at Av. Liberdade that it's close to your hotel. This site has some info www.golisbon.com/transport/airport-shuttle.html. The ticket will be valid all day for the city buses.
Re: directions from hotel
by SOLODANCER
If you're not in a terrible hurry, taking the AeroBus right outside the arrival terminal and runs every 15-20 minutes would be your best option.
If I recall correctly the Ibis is right around near the Pombal rotunda which is at the top of the Avenida da Liberdade and next to the Parque Eduardo 1V. The AeroBus stops right on the rotunda definitely. Make sure to tell the driver of your stop as you get on and also important to pay attention to the timely announcement made for each stop.
The Pombal stop depending on the traffic should take the AeroBus in about 15 minutes.

The Aerobus does have excellent announcements (in English as well) given in plenty of time for you to gather yourself together and get off. I was much impressed with the system. :-)
