Hotel Metropole, Lisbon, Portugal - Reviews and Hotel Information

You will either love this hotel or hate it ...depending on the room they give you. If for example, you were given room 54 like we were at check in you would be shocked by its condition...Cheesy worn out carpeting, tiny nasty bathroom, no view and the constant rumble of the hotel ventilation sysytem to keep you awake... in other words a disaster. Luckily my wife and I were offered another which was a HUGE improvement. In this case a large bathroom with huge tub, wonderful view over looking the plaza and the castle beautifully lit up at night . There were still a couple of minor problems...squeaky beds ( we had originally asked for a double )and the funky worn orange carpets but the view and the homey feeling more than made up for them.
The staff in general is VERY nice and helpful.. with the exception of one individual who was rather aloof. They will be pleased to help you book dinner reservations and tried their best to help me find luggage lost by the airlines.
I doubt you will find a better location for a hotel in Lisbon...Nor a finer view...IF you can get one of the better rooms overlooking the plaza.
