modern cool hostel

A wonderfully modern, clean establishment with funky, casual furniture and exciting wall murals, this hostel was one of the best I've ever experienced in my life. Group dinners of local cuisine are the norm, and the rooms are clean and very secure (card key entry). There is an unwritten code of respect and the staff is very helpful and sharp.

Unique Quality: Great music is always playing, there are tons of books and games and things to do. You may even just relax inside the hostel on a rainy day.

good hostel to stay

popularly known as L.L.H, which is a hostel run by four friends in the downtown of Lisbon on rua Sao Nicolu. I had wonderful 5 nights there. the rate is inclusive of Bed & BF. all the aminities are closeby.

Unique Quality: unique quality about this hostel is personal touch of the owners, mind well there is no staff in that hostel.

Funky Retreat in Lisbon

We spent a total of two nights here and enjoyed them both. You can choose from dorm or private rooms and we had a private room with shared facilities.

The hostel offers a cheap decent continental breakfast and clothes washing for only a few euro per load. It's nice and small and as such is pretty relaxed. The staff all speak english and are really helpful. They also offer free interent which comes in very handy.

The hostels location is great. It's in an area close to the water and a five minute walk from the train and metro. A 10 minute walk will get you to the main areas to visit, and from there you can jump on the train, metro, tram, buses etc to get to where you want to go.

There were two things I didn't like about this place. 1. The quoted king size bed was a double size. 2. The hostel got very hot and it was difficult to sleep at night. They could do with some A/C or at least ceiling fans in the room. We were there in early June and although it was only in the mid to high 20s during the day, it just seemed so hot in the rooms and bathroom.

Lison Lounge Hostel

A really nice hostel with a good location. It's clean, the staff is friendly and everything works well. The hostel has two bathrooms with 3 showers and 3 toilets. There is a washbasin with hot running water in every room. The breakfast costs €3. I hihgly recommend.

if you're open to staying in a hostel, you and your boyfriend could get your own room. this place where i stayed with my bf at the time is really awesome.

http://www.hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/Lisbon-Lounge-Hostel/Lisbon/11827

it's clean, modern, artsy, professional, spacious, the staff is really helpful, and it's in a great location. it's one of the top three hostels i've stayed.

the other one i liked is this one:

http://www.hostelworld.com/hosteldetails.php/Yes-Lisbon-Hostel/Lisbon/36649

not as cool, but still along the same vein. they even have dinners once a week where everyone eats together. it's very communal.

otherwise, maybe there is something on craigslist for apt. sublets. i'm sure a simple google search could get you to some apt. websites. hope that helps.

Lazy Crow & Co

by tpk2 about Lazy Crow & Co

Maybe not the best hostel where I've stayd, but it's cheap and there is nothing really wrong. The staff is friendly. If you're looking for a cheap stay in Lisbon, Lazy Crow & Co is a good option. Check out my tip on Lisbon Lounge Hostel, too.

The prices for the season of 2006 person/day:
Dorm Bed 17€
Double Room 44€
Twin Room 44€

Check-ins begin at 14.

Lisbon Lounge Hostel & 25th April

by SANDE74

Hi!

I am a woman travelling alone and would like check some issues from those of u who know Lisbon better. (It's my 1st trip to Portugal.) I'll arrive by plane late on Sunday 24th April -> anyone who knows Lisbon Lounge Hostel (Rua de Sao Paulo)? Is it easy find from train station and is it ok for overniting. I'll leave to Sintra on Monday 25th April, which leads to my 2nd question: it is a bank holiday in Portugal -> will that affect trendemously train/bus timetables etc?

About the 25th April, no problems with buses or trains. for trains see www.cp.pt
The train to Sintra leaves Entrecampos station.

About the hostel, if you are comig day light no problem, get aerobus to a metro station, and then go to Cais do Sodre station, it will be some minutes walking to R. São Paulo.
metro site: http://www.metrolisboa.pt/index_uk.htm

If you're arrive at night be more carefull metro stops at 1 am and Cais do Sodre it is not a very good zone, so walk there direct...
