Whats the best way to get from Lisbon Airport to Peniche?

Thanks for any help

Re: transport links

by puerto_lover

I imagine that it is a question of getting from the airport by bus into the :

Terminal Rodoviário de Sete Rios, Lisbon 1500

if you copy and paste that address into Google Maps you can see the bus terminus using also Satellite view.

Then take bus to Peniche , the times are here:

Correct - the number 96 bus takes you from the airport to the Sete Rios bus terminal in about 20 - 25 minutes, then it's the Rede-Expressos bus from there to Peniche. The one way fare from Lisbon to Peniche is 8 Euros, journey about 90 minutes. Nine buses every day, a couple more on certain days.

Or hire a car.

Travel Tips for Lisbon

Lisbon Tip

by shellseeker

For me there are only a very few other places with such a stunning and perfect natural harbour like the one in Lisbon. Of course it reminded me of San Francisco at first view – the bridge over the Tejo is the trigger. When my plane was approaching the airport of the city I had an excellent opportunity to get an oversight of the Lisbon and it’s surrounding. The old part of the town is rather compact and you could see that a lot of hills give the city a very special surface and character. The way from the airport to Praça dos Restauradores on the bus goes through modern parts of Lisbon. On a rather vast Avenida da Liberdade you finally arrive to the heart of lisbon. I got off the bus and hopped into a cable car of the Elevador da Glória. This is just another reminescence to S.F. and a rather good idea if you have to carry a heavy bag like me. In the small and crooked lanes of Bairro Alto I felt at home at once and when I first looked over the city from Castelo de São Jorge I felt very happy about being here for the next 5 days.

Tap water is safe to drink, even in spouts and fountains. If you notice a different taste from the water you have back home, probably it’s because the water is a bit more calcarious. You can always buy bottled water which is available everywhere should you so wish.

Praça do Comercio
This big square right next to the river Tejo is one of the finest in Europe. There used to be the Royal Palace and a precious library which both was destroyed by the erthquake in 1755. Now there is a impressive triumphal arch “Arco Monumental da Rua Augusta” marking the entrance to Baixa. Don’t be surprised when guys approach you asking you if you want “choco”. In other places they call it: 'hashish, hashish'...

Christmas In Lisbon

by J_Antunes

Christmas is Lisbon is a huge deal. The family is very important in Portugal and people love to give gifts especcially to small children. So expect to find packed malls and huge traffic queues in some places. In the 24th of December it is habit that the ATM terminals don't work due to the peak of transactions required to the system.

Besides this the city of Lisbon is normally full of colorful and beautiful christmas lights especially in Baixa district. In the top of Parque Eduardo VII a huge tree will be set this year. Christmas markets are not very normal in Portugal like in other countries. However in the town of Óbidos they take it most seriously and transform the town into a christmas world. Maybe a bit too touristic for some.

For those who might have the question, it doesn't snow in Lisbon. Temperatures will be between 10ºC and 15ºC. December is the month where more rain falls but chances of sunny days are still pretty high.

The decorations of the houses is done with the traditional christmas tree and nativity scenes. Santa Claus is a popular character amongst the children while in the past it was "menino jesus", baby jesus.

The biggest traditions are of course in food. The traditional plate is codfish, with chicken peas, vegetables and boiled potatoes with olive oil. Turkey is winning its space and some families also have lamb, but the normal is the codfish. In sweets there are many, many different things. The king is bolo rei a sweet cake made of crystalized fruits. It used to have a small gift (forbidden for safety and hygien reasons) and a raw broadbean. Who ever gets the broadbean should buy the next cake. You can buy it everywhere even in supermarkets (the one in Pingo Doce is normally very good and cheap). But there are other sweets such as filhóses, sonhos, rabanadas, broas de mel, etc, etc, etc... In the 25th at lunch it is normally served roupa velha (old clothing) a name for the leftovers of the previous night.

In the 24th of December many catholics still go, at midnight, to church to the Missa do Galo. However the habit is declining.

Merry Christmas!

Estadio da Luz

by vichatherly

This is a brilliant football stadium for watching “the beautiful game”.

It was officially opened in October 2003, replacing the old stadium next door, for the European Championships in 2004. It is an all seater stadium, with a capacity of 65,000.

It’s just the place to play exciting vibrant football. Unfortunately when Man Utd played here we were well beaten in the end by SL Benfica, who won 2-1, leaving us at the bottom of the group and out of Europe for another season.
