Hotel Lucita I chose this hotel because it was only 2 miles I think from the airport and we just took the taxi from the airport. We were returning to Lisboa from staying the week before at the 5-star Corinthian Hotel which we enjoyed, and this Hotel Lucita was rated four-star). The building itself is a bit old and located beside a public train station (Metro) n- I did not really know because we just used the taxis in Portugal which just charge US4$4-6 dollars per trip anyways around the area of the city. The reception had about 5 people but the service was a bit slow and we arrived at about 1230PM and check-in was at 2 PM so our room was not ready yet. I asked the girl if I could have a safety deposit box for our cash and valuables, but she said the manager was not there and that it would be okay to just leave money in the bags at their locked LEFT LUGGAGE room (with doorman who was Michael). (????) – no manager at 1030 AM to open safety deposit box? And so I just hope Michael the doorman would watch our bags well and so I told him we had money inside (fortunately, none was lost later). We re-explored Portugal and went to places we did not go to the week before. It was a bit hard for us to get a taxi in front of the hotel and walked going right and found a taxi later, but apparently there is a taxi stand somewhere if you walk left but we never really saw taxis there during our stay. We arrived at about 8 PM (?) at the hotel and checked in late because we enjoyed the outside too much. The front desk had one man – Indian -looking guy – who said the room was available and I signed all I had to sign and then he gave me the key. I asked if there was shuttle service to the airport, and he said it was “subject to availability”…and so I said, okay, we’ll just take the taxi. He did not elaborate more and I don’t think I heard him say “Enjoy your stay”, and I asked my sister and she did not hear it too. Odd service for a hotel that says they are four-star. We booked a non-smoking room but when we opened the door – whooof--- it reaked of the smell of smoke. Naturally, I called the front desk to complain and the guy who checked us in answered and said they cannot control what their guests do and that there were no other rooms. He said we were actually upgraded to a better room (and so, his point is what?). But in other hotels I checked in with, they always tell us the good news that we were upgraded to a better room, but obviously he did not tell us so. And the upgrade smelt of smoke – so it wasn’t really an upgrade for us who were non-smokers. I also pointed out that maybe he was having a bad day because he was not smiling and not accommodating as we checked-in. I asked if there was a hotel manager and he said there was none at the time (again there was none at 8-9 PM? So I asked if this hotel ever had a manager??? And told him about us not being given the safety box we wanted earlier because there was no manager). He said the lady who checked us in had only been hired ten days so she might have made a mistake – he also became defensive and said that he had been in the hotel business for years…I asked his name and he it was something like Salvador (for an Indian guy?)? Oh well, obviously this hotel has to work on customer service – but the room was nice and we just opened the huge window to let the smell of cigarettes out. The beds were very comfy and the bathroom was also spotlessly clean. There was also a small flat screen TV. We left really early and another man was at the reception, and we asked where the taxi stand was and he said “Ask my colleague outside). We said okay, and yet nobody was there outside – lol. The customer service here is really bad – but fortunately, taxi passed by in front and we got on it for the airport. There was a Chinese restaurant beside the hotel but we did not have time to check it out. I would not stay though in this hotel again when in Lisbon – the area around the hotel was not too inviting, but it might be okay for those who want to be just close to the airport. Also, the reception was not too nice and we really value a welcome to a city with a smile and professionalism.

 | Lutecia Hotel Lisbon: Lutecia Hotel

I stayed 2 nights in Lutecia, we had 3 people in a room. Accomodations aren't bad - a television, stocked mini-fridge, phone, a king size bed, a large window. Television gets a few English stations - BBC and CNN World. The location is excellent, right on the metro and not far from Lisbon's many attractions. I don't remember what the hotel cost, but for 2 nights split between three people, it certainly wasn't more than 70 Euro.
Coming from Spain, a nice, cold, air conditioned room was most excellent.
