Simple but Great Location and Host
This budget, two star hotel (Pensao to the Portuguese) is very simple, but clean and safe. The lobby has a TV and some couches (where no one but the workers really seem to hang out) as well as some magazines and a really great piece of kitch - a Last Supper Tapestry on the wall. The owner/host was so helpful to me when I was there - I had to contact the police, it's a long story, but the guy who worked there was so sweet and seemed genuinely concerned for me and definitely did all he could to help with anything, no matter how small. I didn't speak any Portuguese, but got by with a combination of Spanish and English. It is very close to Rossio Square and about a block from Pingo Doce and a smaller health food store.
Unique Quality: Excellent location, great value, clean.
