A pension near Rossio.

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on June 12, 2007

I stayed for seven night at Pensao Lafonense. I had a very basic room with a basin and a bidet. The toilets and the bathroom are situated outside and you have to share them with other guests. There are some room with a shower inside, but these are not single accomodations.

This pension is a clean place and the personnel (the proprietors) were very kind with me.

Pensao Lafonense has only few rooms and it is on the second floor of an old building. It is located on a pedestrian street full of restaurants and cafes.

Unique Quality: This pension is located very near Rossio.

Directions: Rua das Portas de Santo Antao is situated near Teatro Dona Maria II (see Rossio).

Lisbon - Lafonsense

Good (3.0 of 5.0 stars)
by written on September 14, 2005

It was pretty basic, but the location and cheap price is what makes it attractive, as I was on a very tight budget. I could see the main square, Rossio, from my room.

You've got to share a bathroom and there is no breakfast on offer. However there is a cafe next door and they're used to the guests popping in.

Unique Quality: Managers are extremely nice and helpful and they can also speak French & English.

Directions: North of Rossio square, behind the national theatre. Pensao is about 5 mins up the Rua das Portas de Santo Antão on your right hand side.
