Real Parque Hotel Lisbon

I have just stayed in Hotel Real Parque in Lisbon for a long weekend and could not recommend this hotel more! I'm already thinking of booking a second trip.

The hotel is clean, staff are very friendly. The only thing I would say if you're a light sleeper: ask for a room facing the back of the hotel as the traffic in the front can be heavy especially late at night. Seems to be a very popular shortcut and as the most important instrument in any Lisboeta's car is the horn- gets a tad noisy! The windows are thick and the traffic noise didn't bother me but as I said if you're a light sleeper.

The hotel breakfast which is included in the price is a great buffet with all sorts of meats, breads, cheeses, juices, coffee, tea, scrambled eggs, bacon, cerials, fresh fruit, croissants etc etc. It was hard to choose what to have every morning as it all looked so good!

The rooms are "roomy" as is the bathroom (I'm 5"7 and I could flat in the tub). The rooms have a TV, in our room we had 32 channels including BBC Prime & World, MTV, VH1, Sky News and all the usual suspects.

No need to book a taxi should you want to go anywhere, there's a rank about 20 meters from the hotel.

So all in all a great place to stay.

Unique Quality: It's in a great location, 20 minutes from the airport on the bus, 5 minutes from town on the Metro, 20 minutes from the big shoping Centre Colombo on the Metro and even if you wanted to walk into town it's only 1.5 km's! The nearest Metro station is San sebastio on the Blue line, it's about two minutes walk away! It's: out of the hotel door, turn right, right again, next left, next right, next left and there is an entrance on the left side of the street, steps go down to the ticket hall.

There's some great cafe/snack bars nearby, like the family run "O Pedro": out of the hotel door, turn right, right again and it's about 30 meters. We had a massive meal, 4 glasses of beer and wine and choc cake for afters and it came to 11.15 Euro for two people!

Couple of doors down from "O Pedro" there's also a chain restaurant called "Taverna Basca-" slightly pricier but nice food. The waitresses didn't speak English but the menu has pictures and it's easy enough to quess what's what- if you know a little Portugese or Spanich. Gets very busy after about 7 though so if want to eat in peace go before then. ALSO please note the local cafe's/bar's shut on Saturdays/Sundays the Basca was the only choice we found open locally.

One tip worth bearing in mind: don't eat in the expensive tourist restaurants in town, there's plenty of smaller places to choose from as soon as you leave the centre of town.

Nearest supermarket is in the basement of a huge shopping centre called El Corte Ingles which is above the San Sebastio Metro station. You can get to the supermarket via the station, go down the steps to the ticket hall and the shopping centre entrance is across the hall.

We found this hotel online and our main concern was the location. But people should be lucky at their honeymmon so were we.
It was a fantastic hotel, our room was on the top floor with a wonderful Lisboa view.
Awsome.
And it was very affordable.

Unique Quality: The brakfast was very good. It is so close The El Cortese Inglesa- the famous department store- and the subway.
