Considering the Residencia Avenida Park Lisbon in Lisbon?

Lisbon seems to be one of those cities that one can discover best by just strolling through its streets and feeling its special atmosphere. There's mediterranean 'dolce vita' in Rua Augusta, but there are also areas where time seems to have stood still for at least 50 years - for example the old-fashioned shops and cafés around the Church of Sao Roque near Rossio square are a great anachronism. Hope it stays that way!
And, of course, you have to see the Alfama, the oldest quarter of the city with its oriental feel and very lively population.I would say Lisbon is something like the essence of Portugal (as it is the case for many other capitals of Europe). Once you've got to like the special atmosphere of morbid beauty full of saudade and 'melancholic happiness' you begin to understand this city.
