Taxi fares

by garadine71

Hi we are travelling to Lisbon at the end of July. We need to get a taxi from the airport to Sao Martinho Do Porto. Can you advise what we should expect to pay or even tell me of a reputable taxi company which has an email address so I could book taxi in advance? Thanks a lot. Garadine

Try this company for size

http://www.lisbonairporttransfers.com/

or Google 'Lisbon Airport Transfers' for more options

It is about 65 miles, so it's not going to be cheap.

Travel Tips for Lisbon

Explore!

by evilprebil

Don't be afraid to wander around the city in the daylight and just see where life takes you. All the neighborhoods are so enchanting there's no way you can be directed to find them. Also don't fear hiking up the hills! Take it slowly and absorb the scenery. I think this is one of the reasons that I loved Lisbon so much.

Right infront of the Tower of Belem is the:
Mosteiro dos Jerónimos

This sixteenth century monastery began to be built in the reign of Dom Manuel I to celebrate the discovery of the sea route to India. It was finished in the reign of Dom João III. It is one of the most important buildings in Portugal, and has been classified by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site.

Jacaranda

by solopes

"Wow! What a lovely colour! What tree is that?"

I couldn't answer to Jordan, marveled by the colours of Lisbon in June.
Now I know - it's Jacaranda. One of the beautiful trees that shine under Lisbon's sun.

7 Colinas card

by Prisoeh

If you want to use busses, metro, trams or the Santa Justa elevador, it will be much cheaper to buy a "7 Colinas card" you can buy it on Metro stations or in the small ticket houses. It costs about 4-5 euros for one day and you can fill it op again and save 0,50 Euro by doing so. It can be bought for one or several days. With a price of 1.30 Euros on board ticket, you don`t have to drive around that much before it is much cheaper.

Wines

by LysDor

Wines are something Portugal is well known for. As far as the local wines are concerned, we must not forget young vinho verde and aged port wines. Because for us, usually young wines are not the best choice with food, we stayed at couple of good typical portuguese alternatives:

1) dry and good quality wine Planalto from Douro

2) typical Grao Vasco from Dao

3) young Casal Garcia

We also search for Solar do Vinho do Porto in order to taste different portos, but unfortunatly couldn't find it!
